hey guys im new here, hopefully someone can help me out with this, thanks in advance.

the only method i've used to convert .mkv to .avi is Alltoavi, which is supposed to convert everything for you. i used the divx 5 codec cause i read it's the best for playing on a divx player.

i have an .mkv file (HD movie 720p), what i want to do is convert it to .avi, keep the 720p (or at least near-HD quality), burn it as a data disc on a dvd, and play it back on my divx player.

    any suggestions? thanks.
