Any of the boxes will do the trick. Dreambox 500 C, DBox 2, Starview, Eurovox or Replay.

Any one ever setup an MMDS aerial and starview box without bringing Cho us or N*l into it. Might accidentally pick up their signal though. Could you get one of these for example?

You need a antenna for mmds with downconverter.
Btw Chorus mmds is not functional with a cable box.

Its n*l in my area. Where would one get hands on correct antenna with downconverter? What is a down converter? Is it a board you pass the coax through?

Mmds is being broadcast in the 2.5 Ghz range and must be downconverted to the 200 to 400 Mhz range. A box tuner cannot handle the high frequency range. There is also a power inserter for the downconverter necessary.
I don't think all matching parts are available on the free market.

I am looking at getting Chorus MMDS.
    I have a Dreambox 500T .
All I need is an aerial but these are prob hard to source ?
I prob need to subscribe to a basic package on Chorus and then replace the supplied box with the Dreambox.
Is that the gist of it ?

Do the Chorus aerials have the downconverter built into the antenna or is it separate inside the house near the receiver ?

The older chorus antennas have the downconverter at the backside off the aerial and the newer ones builtin into the feedarm.
The black box near the receiver is the power inserter.
The item from the link has not exact the same downconverting numbers and I guess the power supply supports only 110 volt.

The power supply runs from an AC voltage source of 100-240V AC so that is fine.
MMDS channels are 2,500 MHz to 2,686 MHz,the block downconverter output signal frequencies are 222 MHz to 406 MHz.
    The numbers seem to match.

The difference in the down converted frequencies shouldnt be of consequence ?
All the downconverter is doing is down sampling the incoming signal to uhf.
The exact freq range need not be exact ,just as long as it is between 200mhz and 800mhz.
The dreambox 500t's tuner should be able to pick up the resulting intermediate frequency and decode it .

This is the only one I could find on the net. Any one else have any links?

Do you think if I got the antenna above and this baby, I would be good to go?

P.S. Trying to get my hands on a second hand n*l setup but no joy yet.

There are lots of similar Down converters on the web but nearly all are sold by wholesalers so they are very hard to get by an individual.

The problem is the channel scan. The standard channel scan expects channels at 218 234 250 at so on.
218 is downconverted 2.500 mhz, 234 is downconverted 2.516 and so on.
With different downconverting the channels landing at other frequencies.
