Lastcuban, Do you have an NTL Digital MMDS system? If so what box do you use. Everyone!! I read through the other topic (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/504030) but couldnt find all the info I needed. As I said earlier I found an Aerial/downconverter/power supply on eBay . It downconverts to 222 to 408 Mhz which should be fine. The other topic was primarily Cho*us whaeras I'll be using N*l MMDS. Can anyone tell me what kind box I need to unscramble all the channels? I'm ordering the Aerial today! Hope to have it soon.
Any DVB-C box will do for N** MMDS, i.e., Starview,Eurovox, Dbox, etc. Ch**** MMDS requires a DVB-T box.
Thanks again scOuser. Is there any fear that N*l & Cho*us would switch to the same system now that they're the same entity?? Any idea which box I should go for? I'm probably going to get a PVR box while I'm at it!!
I have both a Dreambox500 and a Starview PVR. I only got the PVR last week and have not yet had much time to play with it so I would not like to comment on it yet. Before that I was mainly using the Starview as I would think it is much more user friendly/idiot proof than the Dreambox.
No problem if they do it will more than likely be the N** format that is followed. As lastcuban said I would probably stick with the Starview due to it's ease of use. I am not too convinced that PVR functionality over MMDS will be too hot either way.
Cheers as you said can you upload it to Eamos in the Starview folder and name it Dub MMDS and the date you created it so we can keep it updates, BTW much appreciated.
Cheers for that LastCuban. They are exactky the channels that I have thru mmds. I was just wondering is that the max amount of channels that you get thru mmds or can you get more ?
Folks, Thanks for your help. Just said I'd let you know that I setup the MMDS ariel & downconvertor I bought from the States with a Starview box & it worked a treat. All the digital channels are perfectly clear & unscrambled!!
Well done for that can you give the link for the ariel you got to work with it and also what you had to do to get it to work as most other people would like that information also if you are in a C***** or N** area would be a help for that information as well thanks
Oh right would be nice for people to get the info as someone else might want to set one up fro themselves also if he receives all of the channels and how many plus the links to the sites where these goods are available as well would be nice
Heres the AFN Ferg dont think it will work on Ch**** as it is DVB-T as you know and has a different downconverter. http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320142335061&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=011
How did he get it to work with starview as they are dvb-c are they not so why the difference does it not pick the signal from the sat or where does it get its signal from
Sorry Ferg I am in and out tonight The SV will work with N** MMDS as you know, MMDS DVB-C variant used by N**. The only thing is I am like you and need him/her to verify if it is the AFN they used. As the MMDS signal from the mast is broadcast at 2.5Ghz and must be downconverted to between 200 and 400Mhz. I think the spacing is 8 Mhz also. So as said need verification on aerial used, downconvertor and power inserter.
Folks, The ariel I bought was one of the AFN(Armed Forces Network) ariels. It comes with a downconvertor suitable for MMDS. I am using it 2 pick up N*L MMDS in Galway. It outputs DVB-C so the Starview box is working perfectly. Can't give a full list of channels as I haven't had a chance 2 mess with it yet but I definitely have the Sky Movie & Sports channels +++++++. This is the link for the Aerial: http://cgi.ebay.ie/AFN-TV-Antenna-D...ryZ53107QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This is the link for the downconvertor that is supplied with the ariel: http://www.wireless-guy.net/CalAmp_Dipole_2010_130.pdf Any more questions just ask!!
