Ok, so, I ahve looked over the numerous threads on this program, but I have a question...

Does it matter what kind of data cable I have? Because, I bought a Futurecell data cable, and I can't even tell if it works, considering ym phone isn't compatable with SmartMedia. Could my cable work with Mobile Phone Tools? If so, how can I get it too work?

Just so you know, I have a Motorola V265.

    Just venting here!

I recently bought a Motorola V3 and installed its software. It worked fine (i was impressed) and I recommended it to a number of friends. And many bought the same, good business for Motorola.
Just recently the software informed me that there is new software updates available. I foolishly downloaded it to my work PC and installed it. Since then my outlook folder file has been corrupted during a faulty sync operation. The software at first didn’t install properly and went on a infinite loop of copying files (while software says its performing normal operations) and then restarting. After many copying restarting and recopying and restarting, finally somehow by accident I’m sure it went past the loop and installed. The moon and the sun must have aligned at the right angle or something. I was delighted!

But now the phone V3 wont be recognised on a USB cable or Bluetooth. To make things worse Motorola expects me to pay 60 bucks if i wanted to download the software that corrupted my email, and put me through so much trouble in the first place. I know Nokia distributes all software for free as well as Ericsson. Yet why do i have to now pay for this? And if I’m going to pay for it, please me sure its worth while and I’m actually getting a benefit. Is your marketing people asleep on the job along with your testers, engineers and quality assurance team?

I have been a Nokia person all my life and took a risk for the first time. I've had a mobile since 1996 which is longer than most. I know I’ll never buy a Motorola ever again and I take back every recommending word I spoke of the product (V3). It looks unreal (great work design department) but the rest of it is not worth mentioning. I'll try my best to get rid of this phone now. Thanks a lot Motorola!

    First:

Go to the following website to download Mobile Phone Tools 3.11 and install it. Click "Ignore" when it prompts up the warning.

    http://coma.fsb.hr/motorola/files/Motorola.Mobile.PhoneTools.v3.11h.Final.Retail.rar

    Second:

Connect your phone to your computer with data cable. Select the following place for the driver.

    C:\MobilePhoneTools 3.11\Setup\program files\Motorola\mobile PhoneTools\inf

    Third:

Run the MPT software, if it can not find your mobile, restart your mobile (not computer).

    Good luck then.

hey i installed 3.11, then the driver for my v265, and it finally recognized my phone, but the option of multimedia studio icon does not highlight, everything else does and i cant figure out how to open multimedia studio because i want to send ringtones via my cable for v265, are there any optional software programs or ways of getting this to work?

maybe that could work, but follow step by step, delete anything belong to Motorola, like drivers, MPT,PST anything, then restart ur computer, plug ur fone, then the computer will detect new hardware, install these drivers http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/175316#947812
then restart ur computer, plug ur fone again, install MPT 1.23 and update it with 2.xx c if it will find ur fone, if its yes or no make a live update with MPT 3.23 and hope that will work,,,,

When this happen, first of all, you need to make sure the phone driver is installed properly. If it does, try to unplug and plug the usb cable when the clock spinning. Then it should recognize the phone.

ive read all the posts in this thread and still havent been able to get this damn thing to work.. im running xp sp2 which could be the problem, i downloaded mpt v3.11 and it would not connect to my phone, it would just say "initializing..." for ages.. then i tried out 1.23c and i downloaded the update, but i cant figure out how to update it, there isnt a liveupdate section in any of the settings that i can find and its becoming very frustrating. i have a v180 and like i said on xp sp2 and the usb cable. i have also downloaded the motorola usb phone driver and made sure it was right. anyone know what i should do?

id just like to say thank you too all you people taking time out of your day to help out us newbies..
