Chubbs_WA, how did you save the Live Update file? There seem to be no option to save the update file when you do live update. Would be nice to know as this will help a lot of people to rebuild MPT to the latest version offline using the saved updates. Live update can be painful using dialup connection.

    Thank you all.

cUNIT, I have the normal 3.25b installed on my wifes system and her E815 is running fine. Can I take your 3.11 Deluxe, update it (I believe deluxe still updates to 3.25b ) and then run it without her loosing what she already has (phonebooks, etc) in her non-deluxe version?

Also, will profiles let her use two phones like her new E815 and her T730?

    TIA

go to this website www.free.cz/motorola it has earlier versions of motorola phonetools which you can use as a start up and then do a live update, you can read some guides on pg 8, 9, and 15 for that in this thread. it also has p2kman drivers along with a bunch of other stuff. good luck.

    ***UPDATE***

Well, I installed my wife's phone on this system and you know what? The TOOLS item is gone. Since this is a Verizon E815, does this mean that MM Studio is disabled? I am guessing that is the case as the TOOLS item was there before I installed her phone. Any way to make it work?

    TIA

Well, I installed cUNIT's 3.11 deluxe and then did a live update. Yup, it now asks for a profile! I do notice my wife's non-deluxe will let me pick profile (I think) as her setup does show use this profile all the time...however, it may not let her uncheck that. I do see on hers that there is no tools listing in her menu. I guess this must mean she does not have Deluxe.

I see MM Studio in Tools on cUNIT's 3.11, but it does not come up. Since I am just testing this on a spare system I did not install a Phone. I assume that I now have Deluxe with this method and the reason MM Studio will not come up is that no phone is installed yet.

I wonder why they do not indicate Deluxe anywhere I look. Even Help about shows 3.25b...nothing about Deluxe.

Totochan and everyone else asking the same question:

There is no "option" to save LiveUpdate files .. I just happen to look into that specific folder to see what files were downloaded:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BVRP Software\mobile PhoneTools\LiveUpdate

This is after I installed the MPT323 from the previous link. Everything seems to work fine.

I'm in the process of downloading MPT216 and work up from there .. if I get the LiveUpdate files .. I'll upload them all.

For now though .. I can't get LiveUpdate working from the MPT 3.11h install .. even after installing the LiveUpdate patch from the BVRP site. I did have another copy of 3.11h dlx .. and did an update and will be posting the 3.11h -> 3.25b files soon.

That second copy of MPT 3.11h deluxe had keyloggers .. so I'm in the process of removing all that crap from my system.

(uhhh .. the rar'd files I made are virus/spyware free btw)

    hi,
i just installed mobile phone tools, and it didn't recognize my phone (a t720). i'm not as worried about that as i am the fact that it caused my wireless internet to stop fuctioning. the connection is up, and appears completely normal, but web browsers, etc, cannot access the internet. luckily, my dial-up still works, so i'm able to post here. i did a system restore to earlier this morning before i started messing with the phone tools software, and it didn't correct the problem.

ipconfig reveals that the connection is up, and nothing there indicates that i would be unable to access the web.

    any ideas?

    thanks

    hey, trey

im by no means an IT guy but you should check your network ip and see if it's been change or not. sometimes (when i had SP2 installed) i would receive limited connection, and i checked the IP and it wasn't the one i used to have under the network. so i manually punched in the IP that should be on the network and i was up and running again. you should also try to ping your router and see if it might be an internal network problem.

other than that i find it hard to believe that mpt would screw up your network, also try to uninstall your motorola modem and reinstall your regular cable/dsl modem (unless your PC isnt the main comp).

thanks a lot ballaz-- it appears that the motorola modem modified my tcp/ip setting, but not enough to show up in ipconfig.. so, essentially you were right! thanks a lot, man.

Ok .. so I got all the updated files from MPT 1.23c through 3.25b .. there would be the main 1.23c install .. the 2.12b update file .. and 7 liveupdates .. for a total of approx. 113MB.

But .. since every LiveUpdate BEFORE 3.11 requires a special command to install .. (Here it is if you wanna play around with it: "C:\Program Files\LiveUpdate\Engine\Setup.exe" -s /PATCH,/REBOOT,/SRCUPDATEC:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\BVRPSO~1\MOBILE~1\LIVEUP~1\LISTOF~1.DAT)

I can't see a need for ANYONE to get them. I mean .. if you want the latest .. just download the MPT 3.23 and the LiveUpdate files in the earlier pages.

And btw .. the MPT 3.23 and above ARE Deluxe versions according to the website. It doesn't HAVE to say Deluxe .. because the only other choice is a LITE version!

Sides .. if you didn't have the Deluxe version .. you wouldn't have the Multimedia Studio (and for those that are grayed out .. ummm .. you can always double-click the mmcenter.exe from your mobiletools folder!) Just because it's grayed out .. doesn't mean it isn't installed.

Thanks to Angyalka for the original post of where to get MPT323 .. I appreciate it!!

What you need to do, assuming you have downloaded that Deluxe verion I found, is this:

    I have Windows XP SP2.

Before you start any of this, make sure that your phone is not plugged into the USB connection. Make it seem as if the phone and the computer were never together.

    1. Go to Control Panel-->System-->Hardware-->Device Manager.
    2. Expand "Modems" and make sure that there are not any unusual modems under the expanded category. In other words, only ONE should be installed and it should be the modem that is in your computer, nothing else.
    3. Download and Install MPT v3.11. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL YOUR PHONE. When it asks to detect your phone, click cancel.
    4. The default phone picture will come up. Now, go to Menu-->Setup-->Live Update. Follow the prompts to detect, download and install MPT v3.25b.
    5. Do not launch MPT. Make sure the program is closed.
    6. NOW, plug your phone into your computer via the mini-USB cable. Your computer should detect "New Hardware." Your computer will prompt you to install the software. It will ask you if you want the computer to search for you (Recommended) or it will ask you if you want to manually select the software from a list (Advanced). Make sure you go to the option that allows you to select from a list.
    7. It will ask you to search your computer hard drive. You need to direct it to the driver that comes in the MPT v3.25b you just installed. Click BROWSE. The folder you are looking for is titled "W2K_XP_USB_Drivers". It will most likely be in "C:\Program Files\mobile PhoneTools\Inf".
    8. Once you have directed the computer to search for the driver in "W2K_XP_USB_Drivers", click on INSTALL or NEXT to continue with the "search and installation" of the phone. It should say "Motorola USB Modem" as it is installing.
    9. Allow the entire process to complete. Once it is done and you have clicked FINISH, unplug your phone from the USB cable and power it OFF.
    10. Turn your phone back on and allow it to cycle to the main screen.
    11. Plug your USB cable back into your phone and make sure it is connected to the computer. Your phone should start charging.
    12. NOW, start MPT and and the program should automatically detect your phone and start the initiallizing. In a few seconds you should be up and running.

It's worked every time for me. It should work for those with a V3 and hopefully other models.

Well, I am able to bring up MM Studio but only from the file manager.

Also, I believe I messed up the config as we tried to use two profiles. One for the new E815 and a second for the T730. The 730 works but the E815 no longer gets the phone book! I believe we can NOT use Profiles for different phones...just different users. So, I will delete the "Modem" and let XP find new hardware again.

All else works (or was working).

cUNIT...do you mean that you agree that profiles are NOT for two different types of phones and that is how I messed it up?

    TIA

My roommate has a V3 and when he plugs his phone into my computer, it works about half of the time. If it does, it usually means that the next time I plug MY phone into the USB, it doesn't work. The way to fix it is to delete whatever modem is showing under Device manager and then plug your phone back into the computer, let it detect new hardware and then install the driver from the Inf folder. Power cycle the phone after that. It doesn't take ore than 2 minutes once you know how to do it.

I have a Motorola V185 with an USB Cable and I installed the correct driver. My W2K recgnized it and it seems to be working fine. But when I run my MPT it says that the device was detected, but not identified.

I have the MPT update but I donĀ“t know how make it work. It has a file ListOfUpdate.dat!!

    What do I do ?!

    Thank you cUNIT.

When we did do the profiles I did see where to make each phone's phonebook seperate but it does not come up when you select the profile. I know you can select where the data is stored but they do not come up when you select the profile. I am afraid my wife will sync and NOT select the correct phonebook.

P.S. I have another issue I hope to resolve with the F12 key!

When my wife installed her E815 all was well and she got ONE good Backup. We see the .csv file.

She then removed a few catagories and added and/or renamed a few more. Ever since then when we backup or try to access the phonebook it hangs on catagories with 6 segments of the progress bar showing. The csv file is then 0 Bytes.

I think she has a bad entry, and hope somehow F12 will point me to it! The phone does connect OK and this happens on two systems. I think she has a bad entry.

Help! I know that this is probably in here somewhere, but I have read every post and whenever I come across an answer to my problem, the link no longer works! I have downloaded MPT, but it gets stuck at initializing. I have tried downloading SO many things that I don't even know what i have downloaded anymore! I know I need to download an update, and I have tried, but I can't get it to work. I think I also need to download a driver, I tried, how do I know if it worked? I'm not fluent with this techie stuff, but can find my way around a computer. If you can help me, please post working links to updates and drivers or PM me!

    Thanks you in advance!
