I've noticed some people having problems with the phone setup hanging whilst detecting the phone so I'd like to say how I overcame that problem. While MPT is still trying to detect the phone (phone is connected by USB cable) go to your Device Manager (XP - START>R/click on MY COMPUTER>PROPERTIES>HARDWARE TAB>DEVICE MANAGER. Look for the yellow exclamation mark next to your phone in the devices. Choose to update or reinstall driver. Leave phone and MPT running as they are (still trying to detect each other). Choose search a specific location for driver and direct it to the MPT directory (ie: C:\Program Files\mobile PhoneTools) and select OK. Bingo, continue anyway thru any not digitally signed dialogues and the drivers will install. Upon completetion of that within 30 seconds MPT will find your phone and complete the setup. It will display initialising for up to a minute (do not do anything during this time with MPT, wait for it to initialise) and will then be ready to use. I have successfully done this now 3 times on separate PC's for my own and 2 friends phones so I am confident that this will solve some installation problems. Peace!!!!!!!
hey, i gues some of you guys are getting sick of helping us v220 users, damn motorla! anyways, i downloaded mobile phone tools v3.0 and it was giving me some problems, after installing it, it would open ask me what connection i was using, i selected usb cable, then said to plug the usb to the phone and it will automaticlly search for my phone, then it openend this mobile phone thing with some buttons on the side, in the screen it said"initializint" i when i tryed to upload picture mp3,ect. i would get sometimes " does not support format' and for pictures when i hit transfer i would see the bar come up very quick and it would say connecting then vanish, is this problem only with version 3.0? thanks for your time please excuse my spelling i'm only in grade 8!
well v220moto we r trying our best to help people not just who is owning V220, NO any motorola fone, anyway it says to u "it doesnt support that" means for the mp3 u r over the limit size and for the picture its too large to be displayed to ur screen,.... and about ur connection have u tried to update ur MPT and c how its going?!!
Is there a way to get the update for 3.11 without going thru the program? I have dial up and always end up disconnected before the update has finished due to ISP disconnects every 120 mins. V220moto..... I had a very similar prob and solved it in the way described above. When your phone is connected go to device manager and just make sure that there aren't any exclamation marks next to your phone. If there are reinstall the driver while the phone is still connected. The phone in the corner of your screen with buttons on side should then change to an image o your phone. Do you have any problems transferrng other files?
I am having similar problems...I try to save an extracted mp3 file and it says cannot create file...I made the file smaller and it still did not work, what do I need to do here?
can u look in device manager for me please. Are there any exclamations showing? If no then there is something else to try but check device manager first
this p2k thing is saying phone not connected, when it clearly is through mpt, so I don't know what to do there.
go to device manager and find your phone, choose to reinstall driver. direct the installation to your MPT folder. Let me know what happens then
I downloaded P2k and aside from not being able to read the txt files, what language is that anyway, I started up the program and can't figure out how to get files into it so I can transfer them to my phone? Am I just blond or what?
Here's the first line of the readme.txt file: òàê, ïðåäñòàâëÿþ ïðîãðàììó - ôàéë-ìåíåäæåð äëÿ òåëåôîíîâ Motorola P2K The only english there is the Motorola p2k. So, I downloaded it again and when I open it up I don't have anyway to identify the file on my pc that I want to upload to the phone. So... how do I do that?
have a look on this link http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/170124 which it says SECTION 4: P2KMAN (Correct name: P2K MANAGER) OVERVIEW P2kman is like Windows Explorer as used on a Windows operating system. It allows the user to modify the files and seems on your phone, in addition to adding or deleting files, and modifying the attributes of a file. There are 2 main versions of p2kman: Old version (build 26.02.2004). (You can find out the build version by clicking on the About button) This version assumes that PST has been installed beforehand. This is because they both utilise the same drivers. Those shared drivers being located in the same directory as the PST installation. P2kman and the drivers that it shares with PST are often called p2kmanPST and p2kman_pst respectively. I noticed that if i tried to run p2kman without PST being installed beforehand, it just brought up a small dialogue box saying: Failed to find P2K device. New version (build 27.07.2004). (You can find out the build version by clicking on the About button) This is the standalone version of p2kman that utilises its own drivers. These are often called p2kman and P2K_driver_2.3 respectively. This version of p2kman is used for this guide and for The Seem Editing Tutorial in Section 5. I recommend this version more than the old version. INSTALLATION The installation of p2kman is simple and straightforward. See Seem Editing Tutorial in Section 8 for instructions. PRACTICAL ISSUES E1000: It doesn't seem to work with p2kman. V635: You may have to remove your transflash to be able to use p2kman. E398: Other than Bezol's version of p2kman, you may have to remove your transflash to be able to use p2kman. E398: In your phone's menu, go to Main menu -> Settings -> Connection -> USB Settings. Change Default Connection to Data/Fax Connection.
Hey guys, I'd like some help here if possible (and pardon the long post). I have a Motorola c370 (which, to my knowledge, is the same as a c350). I've connected my phone to my PC and, after some help from this thread, it seems to be working. Running Win XP (SP2), phone connected through a USB cable directly to computer, detected as modem and installed using PK drivers. The cable is actually for my Sony Net MD and not an official Motorola one... That said, it doesn't seem to be able to do what I want it to. My main purpose in this whole process was to be able to transfer pictures to my phone for use as wallpapers/screensavers. The Multimedia tool in MPT doesn't appear in the menus and I have to open it via the Start menu. When I open it and try to send something to the phone it asks for a DNS address... So, is there any way to get pix to my c370 using this or any other software? Did my phone perhaps not install properly? Thanks much for any help that can be provided!
Arent motorola jus great !! NOT You might have a dodgy installation. Go to Device Manager and uninstall the drivers for your phone then through Control Panel remove the software. When you have done that refer to my posts above about how to ensure it works properly. Start installing MPT and when you reach the point just after connecting the USB cable go to Device Manager and point your phone to MPT folder for drivers. Allow the installation to complete then check if your MMcentre is working. Let me know afetr reinstall what happens, shouldnt take more than 10 mins to complete the process. Good luck, fingers crossed

Hey guys... I really screwed up something. My MPT was working relatively ok except for the Mp3 issue, so I downloaded Ringtone ripper and had to install the .net framework software, and now my MPT will not find my phone. I tried unistalling all the software for MPT and the drivers for the cable and phone and then reinstalling them, but I still can't get MPT to see my phone. It looks like all the right drivers are loaded but still nothing. Any thoughts??
