3.15Ghz 24/7, Thermalright Ultra-120A no fan, an hour of Supreme commander:Forged Alliance sees my CPU temp at 39C...
Same here. My temps are pretty low. Idles at 32-35 most times and I see mid-high 40s playing games. Sammorris, are you at stock vcore?
k what about the e7200 is just say that and i hear its good... is it better then every thing else in the $150 give or take $10
I'm not sure what you want, but if I was looking for a CPU in the $150 price range, thatd be the one to get. Definitely going to be faster than the 6400+ and 6000+. 1.425 for me. I could probably take it to 3.6 at that voltage, but it's perfectly stable for 1 week under a dual prime test, so I'm happy with it.
yea im going to be gaming on 1280 x 1024 and i was wondering how much i can oc the e7200 on stock voltage... and if i raise it .5 volts and 1 volt i don't want to go higer than that... also can u leave and oc'ed cpu chip on 1 volt over stock for a 24/7 setup without it crashing... and for how long and how bout .5 volts i want to leave it like this for a long time...
im not gonna argue about that, jsut saying, if one is on the AM2 platform, you might aswell get it, or else you will need new CPU/MOBO and a new reinstall of OS if you wanna move to intel. might aswell get that, and then next year get nahlem
Assuming the 9850 is free from the problems that Phenoms have had in the past, it'd be a worthwhile upgrade from an X2 CPU, since you're not going to get a similar performing rig if you have to change the motherboard just to get an Intel CPU. If you're starting from scratch though, no reason to use one.
ofcourse, starting from scratch oozes intel. and yes the XX50 CPUs bugs have been fixed (the TLB one) so they work fine
haha, yeah. i hope thier next set of CPUs can rival nehlem becuase competition is healthy for the consumer
http://www.guru3d.com/article/cpu-scaling-in-games-with-quad-core-processors/3 I was ust reading the article in that link and it makes me think that for gaming even if i oc y e7200 itll b a waste cause it shows that a 4amd 4850 can pratically match a Intel Quad QX9770 in gaming so what is the point of spending more on a cpu if it doesn't matter for gaming
Here's the deal as it stands right now. Most games only require good graphics performance to run well, performance levels around that of the Core 2 Duo E6600 at stock are sufficient (note that this still means overclocking almost all AMD processors to get this fast). However, some games now make use of quad core CPUs, and are also benefited by higher performing dual cores. A few examples of these are Supreme Commander, Assassins Creed and Crysis. All three of these games will see benefit from having a decent CPU, and since they're pretty much industry leaders in technology, you can be pretty sure that a while down the line CPUs ae going to matter. Unless you want to find yourself having to upgrade again soon, go with a good CPU.
but aren't the next line of games designed to use 2+ cores so won't quad cores and phenom tri cores have a huge advantage over the best of dual cores
Indeed they will, but processing speed is also going to be a factor too - so you'll want a fast quad core, and for now, that means Intel.
so does that mean if i get a phenom tri coer 8650 then it will be better at gaming then say the e8400
