newbie here, probably heard alot of this question, but i have read all the threads and tried all the options but cannot get anything to work. Here is my problem.
I have a motorola v220 phone, usb cable, windows 98.
I have downloaded mpt v1.23, the 2.16 update and live updated to v3.11. After i have run everything it asks me to turn my phone on, plug in the cord to the phone then the pc. i do that and it goes through the blue bars across the screen, it then comes up with a window that says i need to have a mobile phone configured or something, i do it again and it goes to the initial screen that i need to plug in the phone again, i do it then nothing happens. I also have dsl cable internet.
what the heck am i doing wrong. getting very frustrated. Help,,,please!!!!!

OK I downloaded 1.23 from the site above and it runs, but now I need the driver for the phone. XP seems to find it within the 1.23 folder, but then I get this message in the middle of it all:

"The software you are installing for this hardware:

    Motorola USB Modem

has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. (Tell me why this is important.{XP says this, I am not asking it})

Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware wendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing."

I have the option of continuing or stopping te installation. Has anyone else seen this? Is the correct driver in this folder and where would I ge the 3.1 update? The other zipped folder says Mobile Phone Tools 2.16. Thanks!

OK it seems like I got it working, at least I can upload and hear mp3s on the phone. I haven't activated my phone yet so I can't verify that when it rings, it will be my mp3s, but I don't see why not. Anyways, this is how I did it with Windows XP:

    1. Go to http://www.the-creation.com/v600/software.htm and download the following two zip files:

    http://www.the-creation.com/v600/bestanden/mmpt_1.23c_EN.zip
    http://www.the-creation.com/v600/bestanden/mobilePhoneTools_2.16_US.zip

or go here: http://www.the-creation.com/v600/software.htm and download them:

    MPT (Mobile Phonetools)
    * Eerst deze installeren...
    * En dan deze...

    2. Unzip them into new folders you create on your hard drive.
    3. In the mmpt_1.23c_EN folder you created, click on setup and follow the instructions, it should install rather easily.
    4. Connect your phone to the computer with the correct USB cable.
    5. Windows will automatically detect the new hardware and open the "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard"
    6. Click "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)", then click next.
    7. On the next window, only choose "Include this location in the search", then click "Browse"
    8. In the "Browse for folder" window, click on the folder you created for the mmpt_1.23c_EN files, then click "OK", then "Next"
    9. Windows will search for the driver in that folder, and it is there but.....
    10. A window pops up:

"The software you are installing for this hardware:

    Motorola USB Modem

has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. (Tell me why this is important.{XP says this, I am not asking it})

Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware wendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing."

    Click "Continue Anyway"

    11. After the wizard finds the driver, click "Finish"
    12. Make sure your phone is connected to the cable.
    13. Next go into the folder you created for the mobilePhoneTools_2.16_US files and double click the only file in there. It will begin to upgrade the previous program you just installed.
    14. Afterwards, double-click the icon for the program to run it. It will ask you to connect your phone so make sure it is connected. It seems to take a long time to detect it sometimes or not at all so disconnect and reconnect the cable and that should do it. (Make sure you see the clock moving around.) It will ask you what model phone you have so choose V600 if you have a V220 like me. Everything should be working.
    15. You will have to mess around with the controls to figure everything out. I typed this up right after I got it to work, so I haven't had time.
    16. I did figue out how to send an mp3 file. Click on the liittle bell, note and the little paint icon. It will open an Explorer-type window.
    18. All you do is drag and drop! Not sure how much memory the phone has, but make sure your files are small.

IM me if you need any help! Good luck!

    Chris

the warning saying windows blah blah not signed blah blah is nothing to worry about.

There are 3 steps to the install that need to be followed. I have taken some people through this and it has worked. You need the p2k driver, modem driver and MPT 1.23c, 2.21b upgrade and once 2.21 has been installed u can live update to 3.19. Obviously u can't do this all in one shot. Reboots will be needed etc etc.

I suggest going to install/uninstall programs and uninstalling anything that refers to MOTOROLA and start the process again IN ORDER.

    Step 1 - install P2K driver 2.3
Step 2 - install Motorola USB Modem Driver
Step 3 - install Mobile Phone Tools 2.21e

If you don't have any of these files PM me

In response to mightybop about downloading music, i am trying to download it via the cable and computer. Whenever i click on a music file, and try to transfer, it says unsupported format, no conversion possible.
I have tried to download "Midi,Wav,Mp3" nothing works.
I have tried to save files into different formats as well, does not work, please to help.

I'm not sure why it's not working for you. You are having trouble putting mp3s on your phone right? Try sending a really small mp3, like 50k or so. It seems like the phone has around 1 meg of memory. Your files may be too big.
