odmedod, I don't even use MP3 ringtones on my V220 or V400. Too many people have mentioned the corrupt MP3 issue. I just stick with MIDI files and they work GREAT! You just have to be patient to find a decent one of the song/music you like. www.musicrobot.com --> search for MIDI files here
no, i have 'good' reception, it just says connectoin lost everytime i try to send an mp3. Im using my old t720 cable, but i belieebv they are all the same since it can initialize and read my contacts and stuff. I might just go try to buy a new cable today. let me know if you have anymore ideas
The cable for most of the Vxxx series phones is the same. A few phones have the mini-usb port (like my V220), but pretty much anything above the V300, like the V600, utilize the same cable. The cable for your old phone does look like the cable for the v600, but it's hard to tell. The specs could be slightly different for those cables. Yeah, I don't fool with MP3's. It appears that it's a hassle for too many people.
Does anyone know of any software or method of connecting to the Motorola V220 on a Macintosh, specifically in Mac OS X? I am using Mac OS X 10.3.6. It recognizes the phone as a USB modem, however I want to be able to download photos from it, upload MP3 ringtones to it, etc.
My friends have a v180 phone like mine and he edited it to say something other than cingular when you open the phone. I think he used some russian version of p2k tools or something. He was able to delete sounds and pictures off the phone and add new ones. I am wondering if anyone knows what software would do this and how to get it? thanks
pctech, I don't know which question you are answering, but the Mobile Phone Tools are only available for Windows that I'm aware of, not Mac. And yes, one way of acquiring the software is to pay $30US for it. LOL
Somehow, I got lost in a thread! I was answering a question (commenting) that someone had about the V180 phone software. Thanks for pointing that out.
LOL well the mods should probably go ahead and close this thread. I can see how you could get lost in it. This thread is humongous.
trying to get software for motorola v220 got the software i think but they ask for hasp device driver so i downloaded one, but it wont recognize it. Can anyone help
anyone get the error message 'the communication link has been broken by phone' every time you try to send something? if so how did you correct it?
i think i got it all working but i cant seem to get an mp3 to copy onto the phone, anyone have any ideas
br0wn, I have never had that problem. Sorry. kellyjm, a lot of people have had problems trying to put MP3 ringtones on their phone. I use MIDI sounds for my ringtones and that works fine.
hey, i just bought a motorola data cable for my C975. I didnt get any software with it so i downloaded mobile phone tools 1.23c. When i connect my phone as it says to, it then says installing and setting up your phone. This messages just stays there and it never finishes setting up my phone. Thoses anyone know why this is and how i can finish setting up my phone? many thanks joe
whats the point of using midi files, they sound like everyone elses, i can put pictures on my phone im gonna keep trying
rockdawg LOL. Wouldn't you agree that if the phone is advertised as being capable of playing MP3s or using them as ringtones, and that the user can upload MP3 ringtones to the phone, the software supplied should be fit for that purpose. I can get polyphonic tunes on any old phone. I want barking dogs. They promised me barking dogs.
has anyone been able to get mp3's on their phone, like i said it is easy to get pictures but not mp3s
kellyjm A supplementary question to that. Has anyone succeeded in downloading an MP3 from a ringtone download site and installed it without it getting corrupted, or do files only get corrupted when transferring from a PC? I've tried, but after scratching around for 23 minutes through a load of five-item menus looking for the song I wanted (from OrangeWorld), I gave up in disgust.
I've transferred several MP3s via the melody studio in MPTs with no problems so far. I just took an MP3 on my hard drive and cropped a little piece of it then transferred it over.
