I'm having the same problem, but I don't think it's the software version, b/c i've tried it with about 4 or 5 versions and then upgrading to another one. I have the latest I think 3.19e. by the way after version 2.16 update the software itself has a update feature, in the menu under setup I believe. Anyways, my phone will connect to the software, and i can transfer contacts, but when i start the multimedia center to try and get pictures or put on ringtones etc. it suddently sais then the phone is not connected and then the phone cannot connect for anything. I don't understand this!!! After I get to this point my phone won't connect until i uninstall the software and start all over again but even then it sometimes takes a couple tries to find my phone, does anybody know how to fix this or why I am getting this problem, could it be a faulty cable b/c the problem is intermittent, but it works fine for my sisters digital camera so I dont' think that's the case. Anyways if anybody can help that would be awesome!! Thanks in advance.

I just need to download pictures from my V220. My computer seems to recognise the phone, but doesn't have the drivers. Are all the required files 15Mb+? If so is there anywhere cheaper than £25 to buy the software? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew how to hook up a V220 to the computer and NOT have it automatically start using the internet through the phone. I accidentally used 4 megs of the internet through the phone and it cost me $300. How can I make sure this never happens again?

Hello, When i first bought my v220 i plugged it into my pc with a usb chord from my digital camera. It recognized the phone but i didn`t have the software yet. Now when i plug my phone into the pc, it won`t do anything. My pc makes the sound of new hardware added but doesn`t do anything. It`s almost like there is something wrong with the cable, but it still works with the camera. I have windows xp with sp2.Any Ideals?? Thanx!!

I have Mobile Phone Tools v3.19, with a V220. Last night i was able to edit MP3's but they wouldnt save properly. Now today when I open the Melody Studio, I cant even get the MP3 to cue up. Any ideas? I am able to get MP3's as ringtunes using [bold]cpuwhiz's[bold] thread about using Dario and Advanced MP3 Converter but it's time consuming and you cant choose your start and stop points. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been racking my brain for almost a month trying to get MPT to work. I've downloaded the P2K driver, the Motorola Modem, MPT (both the basic and upgrade). My computer has no problem recognizig the phone, as the skin appeared, but the problem is it keeps saying "Initializing," and on the face of the skin, it shows a line, and when I run the cursor over it, it says, "No Modem." All I want to do is to be able to upload pictures from the phone to my computer. The very first time I downloaded all the programs, it worked, but then I turn off my computer, and now that's what I get. I've deleted and re-downloaded the programs 3 times, and still it reads "No Modem." I just got a new Dell w\Windows XP. I've read every thread over and over again, and I just can't figure it out.

Update for my problem....after reading every page in this thread over and over again, I deleted all programs, and only reloaded the MPT 1.23 and 2.21. If you are running Windows 2000 XP Pro, like me, you do not, I repeat, do need the P2k driver or USB modem driver. I did not reload these programs and now everything works perfectly. In fact, my computer recognized my V220 right away, I did not have to make any manual adjustments whatsoever like some have. I also printed and followed the tutorial, "How to Install MPT Drivers" listed in a previous thread. It's very simple, and I followed it to the tee! Also, a lot of people are having trouble "unzipping" files. Just right lcick on them and select "extract." Then, the file will appear as a normal file. Good Luck!

I tried everything what you guys said, but it doesn't work. It keeps saying Initializing with a picture of a phone that is not connected.

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition if this helps.

    Thanks in advance

EDIT: Don't know if this helps, but it did work earlier. Then my father deleted it and now I try to reinstall it. So I get this problem.

EDIT2: Ok it works now lol. It seems that I needed to turn of the fone then turn it on again. But now I have this problem. When I try to acces my Picture folder it says Error on line 8, Positon 26. The text is in dutch though :p. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Ok I'm having some problems. I've downloaded all the mobile phone tools, up to version 3.19 (the 3.19e upgrade wouldn't work) and now, I'm past the little clock, it recognizes my phone as the v220, and now the picture of the v220 shows up, but it still says initializing. Its stuck on that. What do i do now?

Hey Guys Thanks for the excellent information!
I now can do everyuthing on the v220, except figure out how to transfer a simple text file, and be able to read that text file. I find it funny that I can transfer and watch movies, music, and pictures, but the simplest thing, a text file, there is no application for! Does anyone ahve any suggestions for java apps that work on the v220 allowing you to read text and transfer text files?

Monalisa, what the trick was for me was to go into the device manager, and update all the drivers related to p2k... and I manually to it where to find the right drivers. As soon as I did that and rebooted, it worked.
The instructions on this board work for windows XP SP2, as long as you reinstall /update the drivers for p2k stuff.
