Motorola V220 USB Data Cabel Software

I am no expert but this worked for me.

Go to this address.

Click on this link - Download-Mini USB Driver-SKN6371
Download this file. (Note where it's going on your PC).

Locate file and open with Winzip (or whatever unzipping utility you have).

Select all the files and extract to a folder that you have created (called something like V220). Remember where this folder is!

Plug in your USB lead (connected to your camera).

Found new hardware/installing software dialogue box appears.

Select Advanced and browse to the folder you created and then select the folder with your operating system (98, ME, 2K/XP). Click Next.

With a bit of luck you now have the driver!

Now, what imaging software you use is something I don't know but I downloaded (free) MOBILedit 1.95 from http://www.mobiledit.com/downloads.asp

This is quite easy to use and has all the instructions.

Ok guys....i would consider myself experienced with this problem as i have been working on it all weekend long and havnt fixed it yet.

i bought a v220, i installed 2.21 b phonetools, everythign was workign untill i tried to tranfer images it sorotf crashed. i decided to update to 3.19, i did, i loaded it and a message came up after it "installed" my phone, this software will not work properly without a modem, intall one now? so i click yes, it just brings me back to the select how to connect and i hit USB then install your phone again. so im pretty much fed up with this stuff now. right now its updating all the way to phone tools 2.23 its like there is no end to this problem, i have come to the conclusion that motorolla is dummer then microsoft. anyways, when i clicked no to installing a modem it loads the program but with the generic driver in other words not the ritght phone in other words no camera in other words no multimedia studio thingy, in other words!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR therefore now it is updating to 2.23 so guys have i misssed anything done anything wrong wat ddo u think?

UPDATE: ok i updated to 3.23 i even found my fricken phone but when it loads it...it just says "initilizing....." and nothign happends i wait and wait and nothing happends...so wats wrong now?

hey i already did that.....the problem now is it doesnt seem to find the phone although when it is plugged into the computer it finds the hardware it doesnt seem to connect to the phone and says it cant find the phone modem wat do u think is wrong now?
but mossyy let me tell u exactly wat i have installed rite now, maybe i am missing something. i have version 3.11 phonetools, i c no need to go with a higher version becuase i already tried and it didnt work and its wasitng time. last time i tried i had some PST patch it did nothing. so i got rid of that. there was also some venturi software that it came with which just got blocked by norton it was just some sketchy spyware. so i deleted that. so all i have is raw v 3.11 phonetools, it recognizes the v220 which is good but when it brings up the thing it says not abel to connect to your phones modem and the screen just says inititializing, i cannot synhronize andyhting and i cannot tranfer pictures because it cannot see my phone......wat is wrong im pretty pissed rite now

 

okay what u have to do is the following

go to the safe mode of ur computer, delete all the drivers that belongs to Motorola and uninstall anything that says MPT... restart ur computer, plug ur fone with ur computer, install the drivers, take off ur fone from ur computer, install MPT 1.23, update with 2.16, Restart ur computer, plug ur fone and open MPT...

it should work then....

 

hey man but y would it work with 2.16...that doesnt even support the v220....2.21 b does tho...am i correct?

so wait man....r u saying the problem is 3.11...and i shud just stick to 2.21 exclusivly and not update from ther on?

 

NO, when it works with 2.21 go and update it with 3.23 and it will works perfect.....

 

alright man....im gunna try this...if this doesnt work i give up this software is pretty glitchy and junky...

alright man i upgraded to 2.23 it still wont detect my phone for some f''''''' reason....so i tried the p2kman....when i load it it instantly brings up the software but it does not find my phone either! damn do i need anything along with the p2kman to make it work?

 

in the P2K folder there is drivers install them, so it didnt recognise them, there on more option put ur fone on the master reset and c if will work,,,,,

 

mossyy you seem like a pretty smart person. I have been folowing this forum and my phone arrived yesterday. I had a very hard time getting any thing to work but i did. I can get mp3 on my phone but whn i set them as my ring tone and some one calls nothing happens. I hope you can respond fast and im counting on you! THanks a bunch

 

hi, I just got a moto v220 and a usb cable.. I downloaded and installed the driver... and mobiledit...

it detected my phone right away
things were working fine for 2 minutes... then
my phone said insert SIM, now it says check sim, and if i push a button it says emergency calls only...

my service is cingular,.,, thanks in advance for your advice...


i pulled the battery and the smart card...
and reinserted... no help... still message, check sim...

i waited 20 minutes and pulled the smart card again... and now it is ok...???

 

eulB when you uploaded teh mp3 did you use MPT's or PK2 program? It makes a difference.

 

i tried to use mpt V.3.11 but i couldnt get it to transfer it kept saying invalid format or somthing like that.And i didnt think it was working because every time i open the media thing it would have to find my phone again. Now im using pk2 and i can get the mp3 on there it just dosnt work as a ring tone im uploading the file in the audio folder. Thanks For the help!

 

I tried reconnecting and got the same result it locked the phone again...
