Im glad i helped u guys. Well Stacie, i still havent figure that out yet, i just got all these stuff to work yesterday and i only have managed to transfer the pictures to the computer.

Bexsey transfer the pictures u have to go to the multimedia center first. The screen that appears is divided, it says my computer on one side, and on the other it says mobile phone. In the mobile phone part, u have to open the folder that says pictures. In my computer part you just have to open the folder where you want to save the pics. Once you do that, just select the pictures you want to transfer and click a green arrow that is on the upper part, just below the menus. you clic the one that is like the BACK BUTTON on your browser, if u put the mouse on it it will say Copy to Computer, the other icon the one that is like the one to go FORWARD on the internet explorer, its the one to copy the files from our computer to the phone. But for more help you can click the help button, its very detailed.

    Hope i Helped U again

    Stacie,
I can help you with that. 1st a shoutout to Bonguis for the easy
to read post to dload the files needed to do all this. You made it SIMPLE!!

Ok Stacie, since you can already transfer images I will tell you how to do ringtones. Heres how I did it step by step.

    1. Since the ringtone has to be a mp3 I dloaded a few small ones as a test. I did a google search for "homer simpson mp3" and found a few small ones (less than 200k in size and no bigger than a 128k bitrate) will work.
    2. I opened up Phone Tools and went to the middle menu button just below the LCD on the phone and clicked that and went to Tools -> Multimedia Center (which is where you have already been if you transferred images), then click on Audio.
    3. Grab any test mp3 file you have thats no larger than 200k and drag it into Audio. Thats it! Now go into the phone and look for it and play it.

OK now that you have done that lets make a custom ringtone. I will list some advanced options here but easy to do. I will also list the software I used (because I think it's the easiest) and you can make your own ringtones.

To cut an existing full size mp3 song into a 12-20 second ringtone get
    "Cool MP3 Splitter" http://www.yaosoft.com/
This is simple to use and you will figure out how to "cut" your ringtones inside of 5 minutes. It's default bitrate is 128 which is a little large (the standard bitrate for ringtones are about 40) but for now leave the default as you can tweak later. Cut a ringtone and send it over to test. OK, assuming all has gone well lets go a step further.

Lets say you want to use a CD you have to make a ringtone. Thats easy too!! Get CDex vs 1.51 from http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
Install it. Now you will need to set an option in settings to rip a song directly to an mp3. Inside CDex go to Options -> settings.
Then click on "Encoder" tab. Change Encoder to "Lame MP3 Encoder".
Thats it! Hit apply and go back to main screen. Now insert the cd you want to make a ringtone of one of the songs. CDex will see it and put all the tracks of that CD onto the screen. Pick which song you want and highlight it. Now hit F9 (the same thing as clicking at the top
"Convert", then second option down "Extract cd Track(s) to a compressed audio file", and also the same thing as on the right side
where you see the icons it's the 2nd icon down from top. 3 ways to achieve it, but F9 is easiest) and it will rip the CD song into an mp3.

OK, now re-open "Cool MP3 Splitter" and cut your newly ripped song from CD into a ringtone and drag it over to the AUDIO side of the Phone Tools. Thats it!

    OK, More advanced tweaking------------

Now that you have done all that remember that the default bitrate is 128 which is great but makes for a large filesize for the puny memory size the phone can handle. A 15 second 128 bitrate mp3 is about 200k in size which means a V220 can hold about 3 custom ringtones. To tweak this further and allow you to have 10-12 custom ringtones you must make the bitrate smaller so hence, the file size is smaller.
Since the "Cool MP3 Spltter is the last step on making the ringtone open up Cool MP3 Splitter and at the bottom click on "Settings", then
"Set MP3 Recompress Parameters", then change the bitrate to 40-64.

    Yer done!!

    -Stephen aka Kerslite :)

PS. If anyone knows an easier/quicker way to do all this please let me know as I like it easy.

Got to Download.com and search for WavPad. It's a small program that lets you Fade In and Out and Clip off what you don't need and you can do it while it's still in mp3 format. Also I find if you need a song for a MP3, go to Walmart.com and then go to their CD Store and you can preview perty much every song they sell on cd and it lets you right click on the preview and save target as MP3.

P.S. I STILL NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DIALUP ON REGULAR GSM

Shouts out to Kerslite for the easy directions. Although I have a problem. I tried doing the audio dl and moving it to my audio folder but it keeps telling me that "The length of the file can not exceed 32 characters" so how can I solve this proble with the "Cool MP3 Splitter" that you provided. Holla Back!!!

I also had that problem. I just bought the cable and installed the MPT. However It worked just for the first time I connected it. After that I opened the program and it didnt detect any image or audio file in my phone. I also tried in another computer I have at home and also worked for the first time only.

I've been using these forums on afterdawn for info for a long time now, but this is my first post. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you people and your hard work searching for those files and providing useful info. All I've had to do was skim the posts to find the right info, didn't have to bother anyone with redundant questions... :)

stacie, lkche148, dgbf; Please re-read Bonguis's post on page 28
where he/she states exactly what software to dload and install in order to transfer ringtones/pics to and from your V220 Motorola phone.

Make sure you do the update then make sure you tell the Phone tools that you have a Motorola 600 (as Bonguis states in his last post)
even tho you are actually using a V220.

Then refer up to my post on page 29 here where I give very detailed directions on how to make your own ringtones and also how to rip a CD you have into an mp3 then make a ringtone from it.
Trust me guys, if you read Bonguis's post and mine from earlier you will be in ringtone ripping heaven! :)

It's fun. I have made a bazillion now. My favorite ringtone is when I call my wife (her name is Cheri) and her phone plays Journeys "ohhh sherri"! Her co-workers crack up over that and give her a hard time.

    ~Stephen
