    Motodude & Gem20,
Thank you to both of you for the advice! I followed it. I removed, then re-installed, then launched 3.23. I let it find my phone. (as compared to keeping the phone disconnected and trying Live Update). So far, 3.23 is functioning fine. It recongized my phone, I've edited and transferred ringtone mp3 files and cropped and transferred some pics.
    I agree w/ you - there's no need to upgrade, I have what I need.... I'm happy.
    Thanks again!!!

    HI Motodude,

Thanks a lot. I was able to install 3.23 MPT. I have V710 Phone. I cannot able to transfer and files and mp3 ringtones.

Actually I am not able to open the Multimedia Studio from Phonetools.

I have not installed the p2k driver however, I have got the Motorola usb cable Driver installed.

Please assist me to get Multimedia studio on V710.

    Thanks Motodue.

Ok, this question might be stupid, but I am on my girlfriend's labtop trying to follow the steps given in this forum to install drivers and software on here in order to use my motorola v220 phone as a modem with this computer. The first problem I'm having when trying to follow these steps is unzipping the files I get from that website. So my question is where can I download a program that unzips files?

GET THIS!! After all the forum readings, multiple downloads, and installations i came across 1 reply that just made me think. it stated that if u are using the front usb ports..DONT! They do not send or receive a strong as signal as the rear usb ports for they arent connected directly to the motherboard (like the rears). SO i tried and and it WORKED!!! The only damn thing that has had me pondering on this damn phone was the choice of usb port!! go figure... but a big thanks to all who helped me along the way with past posts...KEEP up the good work

    Hm.

I have an i850. I have been unsuccesful in getting this phone to work with Phone Tools yet.

And I have tried pointing it to the p2k drivers, but it seems to only want to install some other iDEN driver?

I am using win2000pro with SP4. I dowmloaded mmpt_1.23c_EN but when I ran it it installed completely without an error message. Same with mobilePhoneTools_2.21b_US. Problem is when I plug phone in and switch on (when prompted by phone tools) the phone is'nt detected.
Has anyone else had this problem?

First, wanted to thank everyone for all the great info and links. This forum is an invaluable source of info, and demonstrates the best aspects of a web community.

Wonder if I can pose a question to you knowledgable folks: I download MPT 3.23 from the links in this forum, installed, didn't plug my phone (V220) in until it asked, etc. The right phone graphic appears, but never connects, get the 'Mobile Not Connected'.

I've tried many of the suggestions in this forum for correcting the issue, including pointing to P2K modem drivers, but haven't had any luck.

Is there a direct way to modify my current installation to get it to work, or should I tear it all out and start again with MPT 1.2.3 or 2.x, and work forward from there?

I realize that this is perilously close to asking the same question as has been asked many a time, but would just like to solicite some in-the-know opinions.

    Thanks in advance!

    Atmos,
You can download an archiving/unzipping program from

    http://www.extractnow.com/

    ViperEBH,
Has it worked properly previous to this?
Go to your Device Manager (in Control Panel) and check that the Motorola USB Modem is listed. If not it means that you ain't got the right drivers.
You can download the P2K Drivers from

    http://bongowireless.com/file_download.php
    WinXP/ME/2000 - number 53
    Win 98 - number 18

    Johnpara and RonInConn,
Have you downloaded any drivers yet?
The computer will not be able to detect the phone without them.
Use the link above to find the appropriate one for you.
The won't be anything to install but you will have to unzip them.

Sorry i can't help everyone but as much as i hate to admit it, i don't know everything!

    Thanks for quick answer, Gem20.

Yes, I did download the P2K drivers. I've tried a number of things, such as deleting USB Modem device in Device Manager and reinstalling with P2K drivers, as well as a driver update to the P2K drivers. MPT still will not detect phone.

Is the direct install of 3.23 a known working program, or is it doing something weird to me? I've had this working before, on another computer (also, poor hard drive, it spun its last), but I had done a progressive install from 1.2.3, which was time-consuming.

I've tried connecting the phone via a USB hub, and directly to rear USB ports. Doesn't seem to make a difference.

Any thoughts from any of you kind folks?

I actualy ended up uninstalling the earlier versions of the software and installing from the CD I got from my phone. I then setup mu phone as a modem following instructions from the BVRP website (http://www.bvrpforums.com) and using the drivers from p2k...and now it works!!
Thankyou to all who have posted help to this thread. Hope this helps someone.

I have tried and tried again to get this v220 to work with phone tools. I tried following the step by step process on page 34. My phone is not even listed as one of the options. I have downloaded and unzipped all of the mentioned files. I did however have problems updating to the 3.23 version. i was getting errors and was being asked for disks. I have spent hours on this and about to quit. All I want to do is to be able to get the picturte off of the phone. Someone help please,

Okay, somehow I got it to work (My v220 phone) with the phone tools software. Right now I am using the 2.21 version. Is it worth upgrading to the 3.23 version? If so, should I use the live update feature within the current software version or download it from one of the priviously listed links? thanks

I've been working to get my V220 communicating with a desktop PC with Win XP Pro, SP1.

I used the old 'Install 1.23, then 2.2, then LiveUpdate' and successfully got the V220 communicating with my laptop running XP Home, SP2. I could then download my pictures of a UPS truck rolling backwards down the street in flames, which was the whole point of the exercise.

I will experiment with getting the phone to communicate with the desktop PC, and will share any new info I come with.

Again, thanks to all, especially Gem20, for the great advice and links. Would be nice if this software were a little more straightforward, since it's extremely useful.

    Best to all!

    - Ron
