Hi again, I figured out how to do this a long time ago, but I recently tried to use my Mobile PhoneTools again, but I screwed up setting up the device driver. I got the driver working and all, the only problem im having is setting up my Device Config. It tells me to choose my device manufacturer and then the device model. The problem is, there is no V220! I click browse to look for it, but I can't find it anywhere! All the other models it has on it dont give me the abilitys that the v220 has, so its pointless.
If anyone knows how to get the v220 as a useable model i would gladly appreciate.

Try clicking on the V600 and then change it back to the V220 when you get to a later version - i.e 3.11

I brought a Motorola v220 without any accessories such as software or a usb cable. However I went to your recommended website and downloaded the appropriate software, and I now have mobile phonetools on my computer. I also have a random USB cable that came with a digital camera, but it also happens to connect with my phone, which means I can connect my phone to the computer. However, when I connect my phone and access mobile phonetools, it asks me what kind of device I wish to use. No matter what modem I select, it always says "the device has been detected but has not been recognised". The mobile phonetools icon then comes up, but it says there is a bad reception and I can't seem to do anything with it.

This is v.confusing. All I want to do is transfer pictures! Can someone help me out?

    OK, Prewer.
Once again, the answers to your questions are usually in the forum allready, But you going to have to actually search for them and read them.

this is for a motorola V220 on WinXP btw.

open up mobile phone tools after installing the P2K driver and updating the software. ( this part took 3 updates an 2 reboots for me.)

Then you will want to skip any attempts to install the phone or set up a connection, you just want access to the options menus in the software.

Once you have access to the main program you will want to click on
"Menu, Setup, General Setup" or press the "F6" key.

From general setup you will want to click on the tab labeled "Comunication", then click the "Change Modem" tab.

Select "Next", then if you have something like "Motorola USB Modem"
quit reading this `cuz ur wastin ur time. this isn't ur problem.

IF you don't, select "Add", then "Next" and follow the wizards instructions if you got the driver right.
if this doesn't work, read the Italics.

IF you don't, have the "Motorola USB Modem" listed and the add new hardwae wizard is messing up then select "Add", click the check-box that says "Don't Detect My Modem, I will select it from a list." so that it is checked "on".

    Now click next.
What you should have now is a window that is devided in 2 panes, side, by side. (if not you screwed up and should start over.)

Select "Motorola" on the left side.
in my case i think i selected "Motorola USB Modem".

now reboot with the phone hooked up to the pc.
once ur back up, run the software and it should auto detect the phone properly now.

this is how i finnally got it to work on my laptop.

Hope this helps, cuz it took a long time to write.

If it doesn't, just do a search for "mossy" in the member field, cuz she's written half the answers in here.

if still bleep why not just download a copy from a p2p network like lime wire or ares.
search for somthing like "motorola phone tools" or "bvrp software" thats a company which charges for their software but can just easly be downloaded of some other sucker who has paid for it lol

    enjoy :)

Mate, what do you mean by "updating the software"? I installed p2k drivers and mobile phone tools, but I never had to update anything. Could you give me some links or something to wherever you downloaded your drivers and mobile phone tools from?

    prewer;
There's an update option in the software menu....

*sarchasm* Does anybody actually look for the answer b4 asking for help any more?
    (That was rhetorical)

    And to [bold] Rabbit44[/bold]

    Here, here mate.

People just seem to post without even looking for the answer on previous entries first, every question i answer has been answered countless times before, it gets a bit tedious after a while.
