I've been trying to figure out how to increase the folder sizes on my 250gb drive. I don't know if its due to formatting or some other option in the OS. I can't seem to find out how online. The folders I'm referring to are in /mnt and the hdd is formatted to ext3. Thanks in advance

    FIXED!!

It seems that I thought I had mounted the drive and but had actually just made the folder on my 40gb drive. My mistake, I so rarely go on the forums but I thought I'd be several days down the line before I'd figure this out. I think I should have written the mount point in upper case /mnt/DATA instead of lower case since the volume is called DATA.
