Hi everyone...I am new to Afterdawn so Im not sure where to post this forum, but I hope im in the right place. I have a Acer laptop 1.5GH with 512 Ram. Recently I have noticed that my right click on icons, folders are very slow. It can take up to 40 seconds to open at times and sometimes longer. I have do everything to try and fix this but nothing works. I don't know what else to try. Can someone please help me.. I appreciate any suggestions you have. Thank you Chrissy
Welcome to AD, and yes your thread is in the right place. Assuming that your laptop is virus free, have you recently defragged your hard drive? Are there any other processes running at those times? Is your laptop overheating? this can cause the cpu to slow down. Cheers.
Hi..I ran a virus scan and all good..It dont seem like the laptop is over heating..I use a laptop desk which prevents the laptop from getting too hot..any more suggestions on what I can try? Thanks
So if you have defragged your hdd and the cpu isn't busy at those times, then I'm stumped......sorry. Cheers.
I just tried something else that was suggested to me..I disabled my network connection and everything was great..right click opened really fast..So i guess maybe that was the problem..now i have to figure out what i can do about that..do you have any suggestions about that one..thanks for your time.
maybe something was communicating to the outside causing mouse to be slow but once disconnected to outside, mouse sped up. check for spyware. what av are you using?
Hi..I checked the performance in task manager and it is mostly at 0%..It goes up to 10% but back to 0% again. Thanks
download, update & run in this order. ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ cwshredder http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html ad-aware se http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE...045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5 spybot s&d http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html
I ran the ccleaner and it deleted files from my system. Then I done the cdshredder and that came back clean. Ad-aware found 3 critical objects and spybot said congratulations no immediate threats were found.
Im not really sure what is the difference, but Im looking in the device manager and what i see is Logitech HID-compliant Cordless Mouse and the other is Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad. I always use the mouse. Hope this helps..thanks
well try it now to c if its faster since some spyware was deleted that couldve been the problem also as said b4 try defragmenting ure hard drive that really helps if u dont do it occasionally
