Well I for one am beginning to think someone is messing with our heads ( Reading through the thread ) we will all have to wait for the next autoroll / code change and see then if we get the helping hand required.

Fergus one thing I have noticed about here is over information. This has led to a lot of confusion into who is wrong and who is right. Clone versus genuine is purely a processor speed issue of 65Mhz versus 85Mhz therefore we have the overclocking issue. Easy to realise to some but hard to explain to most.

Wouldnt overclocking just make the chips overheat?

well I'm off, freaked out enough, hopefully we will get some more facts over the next few days. Its all up in the air at the moment but I hope we are wrong.

I am just curious as to how we established that N*L sent some code as I have not read anywhere else of starview, eurovox or dreamboxes not updating. I am not saying its not true but details are a bit scarse at the mo.

I agree with that a lot of people do not know about cpu speeds but if you have a file made for 85Mhz and you put it on 65Mhz it will run to fast and will burn out over time but when people bought the boxes they thought they where getting the real Mcoy little did they know they where being ripped off by so called power sellers so when firmware came out people just put it on to there boxes until it started killing them then we had the people who then made the file 260 to purposely kill off the rest of them for there own gain

This might be a stupid question but if it's down to clock speeds why does there appear to be no cpu damage

like if you overclock a pc without sufficient cooling if burns the cpu out

I understand that but this seems more like the software is deleting something at a set point or time like when i turned mine off.
its just i think it was very deliberate

it is not only our boxes that has the problems N** boxes suffer as well about 1% of there boxes die as a result of updates as well as people have had to have there boxes changed due to firmware problems but other things also happen to electrical gear the do break for other reasons it is just a coincidence it has been happening now

can anyone tell me if starview 2 THE BOX is the same as the first box and does it use the same softwear

No you did not get it wrong because the 260 file was written to deliberately kill the clones but other things do go wrong and we of course blame everything on the boxes it could be a monday box or boxes the same as you get a batch of monday cars which i was the proud owner of at one time
