Sorry that was me with the ancient bit. I said put V4 on as it has the autoroll feature and make sure it is a gen box before you do this!

 

DontLoad channel editor onto the box !!!!!!!!!!! that runs on your PC, you'll fry the box if you load channel editor onto it. Go ahead with v4.0

Very true Mylo I didnt think he would try to do that thought he meant downloading CE to pc only and api to SV.

Scouser, a few people have actually managed to load the channel editor onto their starviews, how they did it is a miracle, but it wrecked their boxes.

Mylo I have seen it first hand had to jtag a mates box because of this

 

Gtrom is the program that "talks" to your starview, and "Api version whatever" is the software you load onto the box. Download both of these to your PC and then run GTrom, and select whatever version firmware you want to use.

 

Scouser, it's amazing what too much knowledge in the wrong hands can lead to.

 

Wonder would creaky or dpp sticky Drewish's link which is on page one of this thread. A lot of work has gone into it and it is updated on a regular basis. I am sure this would be a place where most people could pick up the info and FW they need. I see people asking and also people answering the same questions over and over.

I know there is a lot of good people here only too willing to help. But I think if Drewish's page was a sticky it would free us all upto answer the more pressing/difficult problems. I know new people look for answers where ever they can get them but I think it would benefit all to do this.
