Sorry Magoo, no text files with this one. Maybe one of the guys who uses Windoze could download it, do a quick install, and tell us how to use it.
Magoo, can you let us know which program you downloaded?
Hopefully as we're trying to help out, nothing will happen.

I'll be signing off shortly too. Just quickly Magoo, have you installed the virtual null modem? Do you need to run a program, or does it start automatically in the background?
And hopefully not too personal of a question, how's your knowledge of computers, if we need to start getting technical?

ryan, are you about. Any chance you could have a look what to do with these virtual null modem programs. I have winoze on a box upstairs that gets used about twice a year, linux on everything else.

Apologies to all for typos and edits this evening, I went to see Shrek the Third with my son today, and my head is still melted.
Definitely go to see this when it comes out, very funny, plenty more adult humour.

I went into my device manager and it says that the port is running fine however it still won't flash the sv box says it failed have install a virtual null modem but not sure how that works. COM4 appears to be doing something but nothing seems to happen it stays on 0%. My knowlege of computers is quite basic i am afraid sorry for being a pain everyone.

eamo32 - i know zilch about Starview boxes but as to Linux, it has equivalent programs to Hyperterminal, ie to connect to the Starviews, just can't think of any names for the Linux equivalents at the moment..

Thanks creaky, normally use minicom or screen under linux. Unfortunately I haven't had much of a chance to do anything with the setup, thanks to wife and son. I just roll with the gtrom loader program, which is windoze only, but does run using wine under linux.

Seems very quiet here tonight, going to sign off for a well earned drink, watch the boxing, and who knows, I might even sit in the same room as the wife ;-)

    Magoo, I'll check in tomorrow.

Hi ryan. Magoos problem is that he can't download the firmware to his sv. I suggested trying a virtual null modem program 'cos it worked for someone else. Fortunately, I don't use windoze, but it does mean I can't tell him how to set it up, or use it. Maybe you can try it. Just search on G***le for virtual null modem, and download the trial version. I think it should work for anyone who has a serial cable cable, not a null modem, it fools the programs basically, but as I said, I can't try it out.
Replies could be slow, I'm watching the Dunne fight.
