Shouldn't be any problem mainamn. The only problem that seems to come up is that new laptops don't
seem to have a DB9 serial port anymore, for some reason best known to the manufactures. I know I
flashed box several times from my old ( 18months ) laptop, and it works no problem.

Connected dead starview with jtag and loaded skymax, picks the box up fine. When I goto erase it keeps coming up with fail, I then load the fix and reboot the starview still nothing on the front. Think it could be because its sayin fail??? Have also tried jkeys and looks to work fine but still no lights on the front...any suggestions?

hi paz, if you are using skymax 2, try the older version, you can get it from the top link below.
I tried jtag with the newer version, and it wouldn't work.

When you tried it the first time, did you get this message, and is this with the older or newer version?
If it happens all the time, check in Device Manager that the parallel port exists. Do a right-click on
My Computer icon, select properties, then select Device Manager. Down the list you will see Com & LPT
ports, or something like that. You are looking for LPT1.
If it's happening with the older version only, try the new one again, and make sure 2mb is selected, I think.
I'm trying to remember what happened when I did mine, because I also got some errors.
