    i cant recall to be honest. i just check out another forum(i know, shame on me) but there's a tutorial on how to revive dead boxes using jtag. ever hear of it?

    can i get a bit of help i am new to this site i have a star view box with software api ver 2.58e boot ver :7.0 10/11/2006. when i go to parental control page an press info 2004 it will not bring up the next page ???? dub15

    Ya no prob i myself will not be here till sunday or mon away for weekend big Harley Davidson weekend over here in Ireland so will be there having a break off this thing for a while

    My box is freezing and coming up with Scrabbled or bad channel" every twenty mins or so, with this new 27th May update on it, why would this be, it wasn't doing it before it went down before I installed this update. Grrrrr, I wish I knew a bit more.

    yes there is a problem getting to secret menu when using ver 258. try using a different firmware and it should work.

    how do i change the software i am new to this ? i have been reading soom other mails and i think i understand where do i get GT rom loader and whot do i need.I am using a laptop and have USB Ports

    You can get the software here http://www.drewish1.co.uk/

    You will need a serial port on your laptop or you will need a usb to serial port adapter. You also need a null modem cable.

    *** WARNING *** DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RUN V4 ON A CLONE

    It took less than 4 hours to kill my clone box. I know about all the warnings, but it had be tested somewhere, so now it's done.
    I upgraded the firmware at 9:30pm last night, and it died at 1:00am, while we were watching it.

    Now to see if the guy I got it from will change it.

    Apologies for the CAPS above, but people need to spot that, before they kill their own boxes
