it does not matter weather it is a clone or not it will still work for you weather you input the codes manually or not so dont worry

 

Seems to me most of us have clones there are a lot of them in perth trust me i,ve not seen one of the other ones yet (10"5 7"5) so i would not panic as fergus says bud.

DATA UPLOADING LOOP PROBLEM FIX

If the box has had an older software installed which was working but no longer updates then switch it off at the back then back on again and tune to an unencrypted channel No £ symbol quickly before it gets caught in an auto-updating loop. Select OK and the channel list appears, move up or down to select a channel without a green pound symbol on the right £ & hit ok. Make sure the channel is working then switch it into standby on the remote or the front of the box
You will then see the clock If an older firmware is on the box and
it starts to autoupdate the keys but then sticks and then you put it in standby you will not be able to flash the box correctly you must go into standby from a working unencrypted channel first

SOUND OUT OF SYNC PROBLEM FIX AND LOST CHANNEL

Make a note of the affected channels frequencies, then delete them. Then manually rescan on the noted frequencies. The channels should return at the bottom of your list with sound ok

FOR AUTO EMU TO WORK ON SCRAMBLED CHANNELS

when software installed and box connected with channels installed you will have to turn on the auto update emul8er

to descramble channels

to do this all you have to do is

go to parental control in receiver menu

press ( info ) + (2004)
(or press (menu) 1570)
key and emu buttons should now be visible

switch key emu to on position
go to scrambled channel and wait for update .
Starview box manual key input

Entering keys manualy works fine.
Works with all firmware except 258 as known to have issue's with getting secret menu up
also no need to scan/reset just follow instructions below

To put keys in manualy do as follows.

press menu
press 1570. this takes you into secret menu
Hit ok on nagravision
and change both keys 00, and key 01

Make sure your cable provider is listed at top NTL or TELEWEST C&W CHORUS ect you have to only input keys for your provider
To change between the 2 keys
highlight key number press right and left
When changed hit ok (To store) after each one..


(YOU MUST SAVE EACH KEY INDIVIDUALLY - I.E. AFTER CHANGING KEY 00 MAKE SURE
YOU STORE BEFORE CHANGING KEY 01 (TO STORE PRESS OK)after this make sure your emu is turned on then go to a paid channel and should update

UPLOADING SOFTWARE TUTORIAL
1. Plug Starview in at the mains;
2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with
PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for
this on the Starview you cant go wrong);
3. Open up GTRom loader or whatever sofwtare you have
for loading image on the box.
4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the
Auto update BIN File file that you have

5. Now click download button and you sill se the
file being downloaded.
6. Once complete a mssage will apppears saying
something like "download successful".
7.Ideally you should try and get a bin file channel
list for your area and load this as well it will save a lot of time.
8. Alterantively, plug box in and press Menu on
remote, installation, choose your cable provider,
then move don to automatic scan and press ok.
9. Once all channels have been found press exit back to TV screen.
10. Now press menu, parental control, press ok.
Now press i then 2004. Move down to Key Emu and change option
to on. Press ok , then exit back to TV Screen.
11. Go to scrambled channel and wait on keys updating.
12 That should be you.

FACTORY RESET

Factory settings can be found by pressing menu - factory settings - type 1668 and press ok. Autoscan go to menu installation and press automatic scan. Make sure key emu is on after this by pressing menu, type 1570 on highlighted installation button. key emu button is at the bottom of the cas menu make sure it says on.

well guys just popped in to tell you i got the strobing lights thing fixed, mickeys suggestion worked well to sort it first attempt>>>trial and error send file just as you turn box on, thanks again guys,thing master rebooted whole thing, the guy earlier was right ,soppose ill just need to sort my channels out again, still donno what caused it in 1st place whilst flashing with 300ee. thanks again peeps to all who helped. del

Hi guys and thanks to everyone who supplies help I would have been lost long ago without it.

Anyway, I got a knock on the door this morning. NTL are switching us over to a fibre system today. It is already wired in but from today I will be connected to it.

Should I be worried about either a) the starview not working or b) NTL detecting it.

I am in Dublin by the way.
