    fergus thanks for your help last night it worked flashing the box with 257 then switching the box back on after pressing download it still had the 4 flashing bars but once it got to 100% the bars stopped and on came back to life cheers mate your a genius

    also big thanks to drew for his e-mail this morning i was twiddling about with my box at 5am this morning but at least its working again cheers one and all :)

    An easier way to test if a remote is transmitting is to hold it as close as you can to a transistor radio while on medium wave and press a button on the remote, you will then hear a "pulsing" sound if the remote is transmitting.

    to check if your remote is working point the sensor on the top of you remote at a camera.use the camera on your phone if its got one.if the remote is working you will see the sensor working when you look at it through the camera....

    just one question.
    I have a DBOX in the house too, and as you know this uses auto scan..
    is ther e a way to check this box after it scans to get the codes?????

    the above codes should work for the whole of ireland. it must be just them that have gone off, mine is fine & no other reports from anyone else in uk. i guess ireland hav an extra channel or 2
