anyway im setting myself a little task, im putting my theory into practice, im going to modify a file with a new version number - i'll do a 7.50 and the date 25.12.2008 i'll take a screen cap if it works to show you all

with all the files there would it be possible to make one up out of all of them or is that presuming too much or not possible

Im no where as good as any of you lot , but at this stage , I think anything is possible on making a new file

 

that thought has crossed my mind but the majority of these files are just mumbled up non-standard characters, makes no sense to us humans - all machine code! if i was to copy and paste a section of code its impossible to say what im transferring. when i get the all clear with this jtag then i'll start testing things out, if i kill the box im ok, just jtag it.

 

i tryed that but i did't put it on my box afraid i would break my starview.

Hi guys i have an sv box that has no sound i have tried the following
1, factory reset
2, manual scan
3, flash with v4 software
4, checked that the tv was not on mute my friends box is working fine as we bought them of the same e-bayer head is melted trying to figure it out

any idea,s

 

davey, have you made sure your scart lead is properly connected to the back of sv and in the right scart socket.???


that may be it

 

is the starviewon mute? volume turned up? are you using scart cable? give them a wiggle at both ends

 

ryanmg, does the rs232 xp driver work for any usb to rs232 serial adapter? or is it just for a particular one?

 

i haven't used it i got it off a friend but i think it works on any

 

Guys i just flashed a mates box wi 3.00ee it worked and updated itself ok, and the i took it back to ver 2.57 cos of all the talk bout them not working, it's a clone we think it . any way after doing this it has not swithced itself back on any ideas ????????

opened it back up and from what i can tell it's 1st gen box, no red blobs etc, but i,ve noticed the cpu does not have a heat sink on it like the 1st gen in the pictures

just to add, the box when you hit the power switch at the back on and off you can hear little electrical noises, there appears to be no burn outs on the cicuit boards, but no lights to the front of it either, hope someone can help as it's a mates and i told him i'd get his channels back & now the poor sod has to listen to the radio & he won't let me near that now !!!, thanks in advance guys,
Martin you asked where i got the software it was of drews link page, and saved it to my downloads and it has worked fine on mine, the only reason i took it back to ver 257 was all the negative talk bout 260 & how they last two weeks, cheers in adavnce.

 

i have my mates one here and its working fine i even changed the scarts and tv just in case there was something up.

i even went into the user setup menu and messed around with the modulater setup with no luck.

are you trying different channels? theres nothing in the menu to change audio settings, modulator settings is something totally different. did you try mute & volume?

 

get the frquence of the channels (press info on the,the frquence is at the bottom left).write it down,go to channel edit and delete the channels with no sound.now go to installation,manual scan the frequnce.once the maunall scan is done go to your channels. the channels will be at the bottom of your channel list.

 

Just jtag`d my dead clone box with a lead i bought yesterday and i now have power to it again just auto scanning now to see if it`s working or not .

Hi Guys,
I am having difficulties gettin into the secret menu.
i press 'menu' then type in '1570', but nothing happens. Do i have a faulty box? (i have only just bought it from ebay)
I have also tried pressing 'menu' then 'Parental control' then 'info' then '2004', but nothing happens.
please help. i do not have the rs232 cable to upgrade the firmware.
i am currently running version 2.58e
