Been testing out Cucusoft lately, dk. And I have to agree with your above post about it being great. It has a nice interface, and is fairly easy to use. With that out of the way, I can now recommend it rather than just suggest :)

I reccomend Xilisoft iPod Video Converter. Not many people like or even reccomend but i do i love it. And would personally recommend it over PQ and Cocusoft, both which i have tried and still have, and i recommend both of them just my personal favourite is the Xilisoft one.

i recommend DVD Decrytper and Videora. That combination together is the best, i have converted all types of formats to ipod (MPEG 4) and the sound/video is in sync, quality is great.

I also suggest you take a look at [bold]Jodix[/bold] Free iPod Converter. It works fantastically well & aditionally, Dela has written a great guide on how to use it.
