I tried to go to college but I dropped out in the first semester because i didn't know how to take care of myself. Guys I've had a hard life so many of you may not know where I am coming from.

I have had a hard life... I got picked on all throughout school! Every night before I went to bed I would cry.

that would be part of the reason you got picked on. if someone picks you on, you pop them one. remember what sean connery said in The Untouchables?

"they pull a knife, you pull a gun! they put one of your's in the hospital, you put one of their's in the morgue! [bold]that's[/bold] the chicago way."

High school for me was probably the worst time in my life. From middles school to high school was not an improvement for me. The only difference was that the pranks were much nastier... I had used condoms thrown at me or put on my seat. In a matter of fact I had everything under the sun thrown at me at one time or another. People would steal my books or notes and throw them in the garbage. They would steal my lunch... I would try to fight back but then the guy who was picking on me would get a bunch of his bruno buddies, form a circle around me, pull my shirt over my head so I couldn't see, and would play a game of human pinball. I would walk through the hallway and people would start screaming little chants about me being fat or a sexually delayed loser. I was the perfect target... When I was in 10th grade I was 4'10 and wieghed about 200 lbs. I didn't start puberty until I was 14 (almost 15) and I went through it slowly so I basicaly looked like a 10 year old kid through out those four miserable years so you better beleive I got ridiculed for it. I got called every name in the book. The school I went to was so damn big that none of the teachers or principals even saw all the crap that was happening to me and the counselors were to busy to even hear out my little bully problems.
    [bold]
I wish I tried to stick up for myself a little more than I did but not all of us are genetically blessed with muscles and good fighting skills. I also didn't have any allies... not even the nerds wanted to hang around me. I was truly the lone ranger. *sigh*

And now people want me to go back out to a world like this??? You gotta be kidding me!! The world is full of opportunites but not for people like me.

so what, you're gonna let the bullies win and go hide and mooch off your mommy the rest of your life? get over it...just because you got picked on by a few people in school doesn't mean that the entire world is one big buly. I would say give college another try, but its apparent you can't do anything without your mom, so I guess you're just screwed.

briteman, the world is what you make it!! Nothing's gonna get handed to you in the REAL world, and complaining about it isn't gonna make it happen. If you want something you have to get it. If you want a job you're gonna have to get it. You're probably gonna have to at least do that before you'll get a girlfriend, most girls don't want anything to do with an irresponsible lazy guy like you. You will need to make some drastic changes and it'll be tough, but it's possible. And you'll have to do it in order to get through life after mother gives you the boot.

I'm kind of late in this thread. I think it's fine if your kids watch such movies. My brother is 6 and he watches all the sci-fi stuff I watch.

yeah, my kids have watched kill bill 1 quite happily. they're being brought up well so know right from wrong. the one thing i don't tolerate/use in front of any kids is swearing (obviously can't help it if someone on tv/films swear though).
quite funny (or scary) - the other week i was watching one of the addams family films with kids and the phrase 'go have sex' or similar came up in the film. I cringed and went to dive for cover but my eldest (she's 7) said "it's ok dad, don't worry, i know what the word means". i was flabbergasted and speechless, which is quite unusual for me.

My 4 year old grandaughter has just discovered the Wizard of Oz and it is now her new favorite movie. She loves all the newer animated films, like The Incredibles, Shrek and Shark Tales but I can't seem to get her interested in any of the older Disney films like Bambi or Dumbo, she tells me they are boring.

that's a shame arniebear, i'm slowly collecting a lot of the older Disney stuff, even stuff like Herbie; my kids watch most stuff, animated or otherwise, but they rarely get bored with a film

I know I have a lot of Disney movies on VHS leftover from when my kids were young, but my grandchildren just prefer all the newer stuff. I am hoping when they get older they will develop an appreciation for them.

Man I am really late to this thread..

First let me say briteman your a friggen idiot! If that isn't someone pulling all of your legs then this guy has some serious issues, but I belive someone is just having fun with you all :)

OK I let my kids watch just about anything they wanted when they were younger ;-) The wife didn't agree with it to much but they have turned out perfectly fine. Of course I didn't let them watch porno or really nasty R movies, but they watched just about anything else. My oldest Daughter is now in College and graduated on the National Horor Society with a 3.8 grade point average :) My youngest id starting her 10th grade year in high school and getting A's herself. I have been blessed because I have never had any problems with either of them and they are very polite, caring, adn giving children. Of course they are a little spoiled but thats my fault :). I guess I am just one of those people that believe TV or movies will corupt your childrens mind. If you raise them to the best of your abilities and are honest with them everything should be fine, but I'm not a phsyciatrist so take my word as gopel these are just my opinions is all.. :)

    Cheers
