I'm new to audio sharing/compressing/burning, and have a newbie question: Does converting mp3's to wav files necessarily mean better quality?

I just tried MP3toWav converter from Mobsoft and thought the wav was as good if not better than the mp3, but don't understand how that can be.

    Thanks.

    Hello!

There shouldn't be any difference in sound quality between mp3 and the decompressed wav because the quality can't get better than what the mp3 has. Meaning when you compress wav to mp3 you will lose some sound quality which you can't get back later on when you decompress the mp3 to wav.

If there are differences between mp3 and the decompressed wav then I suspect it has to do with your mp3-player.

Thanks for your reply, Markusk. Pretty elementary question, I know, but I'm trying to wrap my old mind around this stuff. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
