    Okay, here's my situation:

I've got an MP4 file on my computer that I created with clonedvdmobile. It plays fine in Quicktime on my computer, no obvious problems. When I transfer it to my IPod and try to play it from there, however it stutters at certain points and the audio cuts in and out. Any idea what's causing this?

Could be, and most likely to be a firmware issue. What version of the iPod firmware are you running?

Not sure. I looked on these forums and I read about the firmware issues. I grabbed IPod Wizard and ran it and hit the "downgrade firmware" button. That didn't fix the problem, but it looks like I can keep downgrading. But I really don't know what that's doing at this point. I'll try it again, but is there something I'm obviously doing wrong?

When you say you "grabbed IPod Wizard and ran it and hit the "downgrade firmware" button", did you follow any specific instructions? Which version of firmware did you 'downgrade' to?

No, but we aren't sure if it's [bold]not[/bold] either. And seeing as the iPod firmware version 1.1 seems to be the [bold]most common[/bold] cause to all video playback problems, I thought we'd address that one first; (- Besides, it does the iPod no harm).

    Anyway..

dbsr, If you want to know how to downgrade your iPod's firmware, have a look at my iPod FAQ.. Q&A number 27.
