I've read through the threads, so apologies if this has been covered.

I want to buy a media player for my tv.
I just wanted to simply ask if it says it will play mpeg4 format, is that the same as mp4? or is there a difference?

    Cheers.

    as i know, not exactly!
such as sometimes, even though it's mp4, but it can't be accepted by an MP4 player, cuz the code or the device parameters support problem. em... hard to say...
so you'd better test that format before purchasing it
