I have started to have a problem with the rca conections for my cd player.

They are a fairly good quality. Heavy, 24" long, gold plated tips.

The problem is that periodically the sound will fade to a very low volume and get dull. It is still there, but faint.
I can fix it by just giving the cables a small twist.

They cables seem tight, but this keeps happening.

Could it be oxidation or something on the terminals ?
The cables have not been getting yanked or anything.

Have you tried another set of cables yet?

I can 100% tell you that you are having a short in the cable, probably in the RCA tip. get yourself a new RCA cable.
