I'm new to this. Please explain what you mean by bridge the routers. One building is 250 ft away and the other is 400 ft away from the center one. I had access points but would like to get a stronger signal. Thanks
bridging is using two or more routers to spread the wireless signal go here it will explain http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-turn-an-old-router-into-a-wireless-bridge/ you also dont have to go by exactaly what routers can run the ddwrt firmware i have a belkin n+f5d8235-4 and it comes built into the router there 80 bucks each http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=belkin+f5d8235&cid=16330696765759563451&sa=title#p
I finally got everything in and hooked it all up. I hooked the first router into the back of the primary router and it's working fine. I cant figure out why the second router coming out of the primary router isn't working. When I hook up the second router the laptops around it see the router and show full signal strength but say limited or no connectivity and don't connect to the internet. The laptop also says the ip address is invalid so I'm pretty sure it has to do with the settings in the third router. I know I have to disable DHCP which is all I did on the second router. Are there any other settings I have to change. The second router had been previously hooked up to the computer so the settings may have been set already. I tried just about everything I can think of on the third router but cant get it to work. The third router is a linksys wrt54g. After all that and hours of playing with it earlier I found this http://www.corenetworkz.com/2009/05/how-to-connect-three-routers-in-your.html Which I'm going to try tomorrow. Thanks
Ok, so that didn't work either. On the 3rd router all I have to do is disable DHCP, change gateway to router, and change the ip address. Is this correct? With the primary router hooked up. I went to cmd, ipconfig and got this IP address 192.168.2.2 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Default gateway 192.168.2.1 What should I change the 3rd router's ip address to and is there anything else I need to do? Thanks
Dont I feel stupid. I checked my wiring and had held one of the connectors up side down when I was inserting the wires they were wired backwards. I didn't have a second person with me earlier to do this. Any how everything is working. Thanks again
