I really like this setup you just posted. It seems pretty good for a budget system. I just wanted to point out that the motherboard you chose has no onboard video. I was under the impression that this was a big deal but otherwise Id say nice system config. Great mobo from a good dependable company. ram and hard drive also from good companies and the cpu is pretty good for a budget system. id go for it. just keep in mind that you dont have any form of video (onboard/add-in card) so you will need to buy a videocard.

OK, HUGE update on video cards!

The X850XT is selling for $120 on newegg. $90 after a rebate. This is currently THE best performance/price ratio you can get for any part I've ever seen.

    For a cheapo gaming PC(<$700)

    A64 3700+ Sandiego $105

    ASUS A8N-E Motherboard $89.99

    2 x 512MB Patriot Signature $94.00

    Sapphire X850XT $119.99

With a decent 500W PSU a good case with some fans, a 160GB HDD and a CD-RW DVD-ROM Combo drive.

Assuming you have your own copy of windows we're looking at about $650 I think. This is a system that will play, Half-Life 2, FarCry, FEAR, DOOM 3, Prey, all flawlessly at 1280 x 1024 or 1280 x 968! Awesome value for your price. If you need a budget system this is it!

I'm hoping this isn't a weekend special. I don't think it is because it dropped to $129.95 last week, sold out, and now it's at $119.99.

You WILL NEVER find a deal as good as this again!
