My computer doesnt read my CD Drive help

    YOu know how when you go to My computer and there is you C: and E: and all your drives and stuff. I only have my C drive. I dont know what caused this. does anybody no whats wrong??

    check in device manager to see if there is a yellow exclamation mark. also when starting the computer, does the cdrom showup with the floppy drive, hd & whatever??

    no it does not show up on start up and device manager seems fine nothing abnormal about it

    see if found in bios & try a win98 or me bootdisk with cdrom support to see if ids or not

    in the bios of the motherboard see if the cdrom is identified or use a win98 or me bootdisk & select #1 for cdrom support. it will than check if there is a cdrom drive connected or not. also reseat the data cable from the cd drive & motherboard
