    petjelly,

    Go buy a can of compressed air. If you find two for the price of one get both. Trust me when I say that the can of compressed air will work. If you remove the 4 screws you were talking about your entire power supply will come out. if you are not technically inclined to pull it out and put the correct power supplies back then I wouldn't mess with it. Make sure you clean your processor fan with compressed air also. All that dust can and will cause problems. I clean mine once every two or three months. By cleaning it that often I hardly have any build up at all.

    To top it off, you should probably buy two cans of compressed air anyway. You don't want to go through one and still have dust bunnies!

    Are you not able to update your computer to SP2? Are you going to get a firewall? I am wondering because we spent a lot of time getting your machine clean, and the more security you have the better it is for you.

    all of the 20 files are located in your temp file. Every time you run a scan you will have them. You may remove them from your browser, along with cache files. Do that from time to time to keep your internet speed at top performance. You may also delete cookies from there.

    Thanks

    [bold]Edit: Yes, your machine is clean![/bold]

    So now that everyhing is clean I will get that firewall upadate. I'll see if I can get some air sprays and see if that gets my drive to work. If that doesn't work i'll be back with more qeustons. Again thanks alot for your time and your help.

    Corrupted/ infected OS/ Registry.

    Format & fresh install windows, Nero, AVG, updates etc.

    No other solution.

    Good luck.

    Not 5 pages and still clueless. If you take the time to read the thread you will notice that we have not even got back to the original problem at hand. We have spent the last two pages cleaning her system. As soon as we have petjelly updated then we will get back to the original problem.

    You can edit a previous post. Just click on what looks like a pen & pencil to the right of your post. No worries though - it's a few pages back.

    Are you still with us? Have you done all the updates and got a firewall for yourself?

    Ok mrbenz04 - for this post edit it out and start a new thread.
    In the new thread also tell us what media you are using.
    I have a few suggestions for you but you need to start a new thread for your burn problem.

    I still stand by my previous views.

    Your OS is corrupted.

    Only option is Format & fresh install windows.

    You shall waste days trying experimenting to clean your OS but in vain, so better fresh install.

    Btw learn imaging, so that in future if ever such a thing happens, you can restore an image over the faulty OS in 3 mins.

    Good luck.

    With 2 final steps to take for a clean system, why go through all that? She would have to reinstall every application on the computer, reset all the customizations and lose all her downloads. Isn't it much better to at least try and save it if we can?

    @petjelly
    Turn off System Restore. Reboot. Turn System Restore back on.

    Run System File Checker. Go to Start> Run. Type "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes). It will ask for your Windows CD. If it will not read it, try it in Safe Mode. There will not be any window saying it's completed, it just closes.

    After those steps try a blank CD and see if it will read it.

    Post back the results.

    @Yezinki
    For a new hdd as backup i would agree a fresh install would be best but for what's been happ'n here she has done the right thing in learning how to go about sorting out infections tho the original probs is more than likley as ozzy said and is a hardware issue

    @petjelly
    Yezinki has a point and i have done just that 2 years ago,it soon became apparent doing reinstalls are a pain untill i found out about this site URL http://radified.com/forum (if link fails google for radified forum),ghosting or cloning a hdd is easy and fun,more importantly it'll take around 20 mins to clone 40GB of data or an hour to clone around 100GB , compare that to doing a reinstall, then having to get updates etc which will take at least a day if your lucky,when cloning can have you backup and runn'n in an hour, i use norton partition magic 8.0 and norton system works 2004

    EDIT: Contrary to what you first see once at the home site of radified just have a browse thru the place all will become apparent

    When I burn a dvd from Adobe Premiere Element 2.0 the begining of the video has dropped frames. Then it stops and goes away. From the captured video there are no dropped frames, is there something I can do to fix the problem.

    dolphin 2. it keeps telling me to insert windows xp cd. the driver doesn't detect it. i tried it in safe mode. safe mode wouldn't let me search for sfc /scannow...the box came up for a split second then it dissapeared. I kept trying and trying. nothing will come up wheni search for it in safe mode.
