I am very new to all this so excuse terminology. I have successfully burned my first DVD - at least it plays on my computer - both picture and sound appear to be perfect but it won't play on my dvd player even though it is multiregion. I used utorrent and mininova for the download which was in 'xvid' then Nero StartSmart for the burning. My DVD Player is a Samsung P177 and I have bought copied DVDs from Ebay before now and they have all played OK. I am probably doing something wrong but am starting to lose the will to live from spending so many hours trying to do it differently.
    Help and suggestions please.
    Thanks a bunch.

Do you know what format DVD's you are using +R or -R as some DVD players are a bit picky, some accept +R format some -R format and then theres the ones that accept both. Normally if you use DVD-ROM format it's pretty well accepted by most.
Herses a thread about "booktyping" (changing +R to DVD-ROM)

I always booktype my DVDs because I think it will not play on my Apex DVD player. I know this because it won't play a DVD-R.

Problem solved thank you. It was operator error using Nero - I selected data file instead of Video - hence my problem - I did tell you I was new at this!!! Anyway, thought I would try and download some stuff at work and have it downloading in the background while I work as I have Nero on my PC at work as well. Trouble is I have a different problem now. From within uTorrent I get a message saying "unable to map UPnP Port" what does this mean? I have saved the file to download onto my C drive but my computer is attached to a network.I am not a technical type person so haven't a clue - any offers?
    Tks
