I realise that we are talking about USB Enclosures for a Burner here but for whatever it's worth I use a MeTal Gear box Enclosure For My External 400GB Hitachi HDD and have had no problems with it whatsoever !!! So if their Burner enclosures are as good you should be fine !!!! My laptops built in Burner is a NEC and so far is burning good But to be honest I don't burn very many disc on it ! but should it die I'll most likely go external for it's replacement !!! I do have one external Burner already ! my old Nec 2500- I have it in a ADS ? enclosure that's usable as a HDD enclosure up 500GB or as a Burner enclosure ! The PS is built in the box along with a fan ? and it uses a Power cord like a Computer Vs. having a power brick/wall wart set up ! No complaints works fine !! But it's a Heavy beast !!!! So although it's technically Portable I would say it's more in the transportable Class !!!!!! & it even matches the color scheme on my Emachines desktop too !!!! Oh well Good luck everyone & Burn Kado Burn LOL!!!http://www.meritline.com/usb20drivkit.html

    Hey Guys,

Which internal DVD Burner is the one I want or need:???

Whats the difference between the E-IDE/ATAPI and the second one which is just IDE.

    LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with 12X DVD-RAM write and LightScribe Technology Black E-IDE/ATAPI Model LH-20A1H-185 - OEM

    LITE-ON LightScribe Black 20X DVD±R Burner with 12X DVD-RAM write Black IDE Model LH-20A1H-186 - Retail

Also: What about the external Light On burners:?

LITE-ON Black USB 2.0 External 20X DVD Burner with LightScribe Model DX-20A3H-05 - Retail

LITE-ON Black USB 2.0 External DVD Burner Model SHW-160P6SU EZ DUB - Retail

Are these worth getting since they are already external and have the enclosures?

    Thanks again guys!

Don't worry they're basically the same thing. ;) One is RETAIL and the other is EOM but they're both IDE/E-IDE/ATAPI....

You can't go wrong with the LiteOn externals. :)
