Ok here is my delima. The person my parents hired to do a simi decent video of my funeral(Wedding) made a dvd of it also. I now need more copies of this as I purchased it from him and told him that would be the only one I needed because I thought I could make more myself. Well I was wrong. There is no copy protection. When I use fastdvdcopy it works fine copying it but will not play in anything. When I rip it with mac the ripper and go back to burn it, it is to large of a file. Is there anyway I can rip it and make it where I can redo the video in either Imovie or Final Cut Express I bought just to make a better video? As you probably know either of the two will not let you import vob files so I am stuck there. Please I need help on this one. All the family is driving me crazy for it and cant do nothing. Any more info need just ask.

    To copy the DVD

1- If you have Toast just make a CD/DVD copy.

    or

2- Double-click on the DVD and drag the VIDEO_TS folder to the desktop. Now use DVDImager (http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html) to create an image and burn it using Disk Utility.

To re-work the video in iMovie or FCE you need one of the folllowing

    1- Cinematize (http://www.miraizon.com/index.html)

    2- DVDxDV (http://www.dvdxdv.com/)

Out of the two programs that you recommend which do u feel is better? I have tried the trail versions and like both of them but was gonna ask you if you had the full versions of either and if one was better than the other.

Give this new application (MPEG Streamclip 1.0) that was released the day before yesterday a try. It does the same as the others (can open and convert unencrypted VOB files) and it is free. The only problem is that at the moment it does not support AC3 audio but the developer is working on it.

I tried it and works well producing very high quality conversions ( I have the Apple MPEG-2 Playback Component ).
