My windows XP willnot play DVDs how can I fix it

    Thanks for all your help, but I'm reformatting and reinstalling XP, That virus is in everything and almost impossible to get rid of, and it creates errors in programs. It kill NOD antivirus. the virus comes in as a Trojan and slowly infects the whole system. I think i should have run a scan first, possibly why the Autoplay stopped.

    If you ever see this in the future, look to a conflict too. For me, it was definitely Nero Showtime and uninstalling didn't help. Only a reformat or reinstalling Showtime was the answer here. Look's like any number of thing's affect autoplay.

    this may be off topic, but a while ago, I had an IBM thinkpad 600E (OLD) that suddenly stopped playing dvds after playing one cd in the disk drive, even after ordering a replacement dvd drive and trying that. Just wondering for future reference.
