When I turn on my xbox the unit turns on and almost immediatly shuts off again and then turns itself back on and back off and then back on again and then I get a red and green flashing light with nothing on the screen. I have a executer3 mod chip installed which I removed woth the same results. I have a dvd drive from an off the shelf computer store in the unit that was working great (I removed it and still the same problem). I have a 160 GB Hard drive which was working perfectly (and I unhooked it and still the same thing). I replaced the power supply in the xbox with my friends (I know its working perfectly.) The same thing still happens. help!!!

Are you using the replacement powercord? Did you look over the motherboard for any damage that may have occurred?

Replacement power cord? I have a Y-cable that shares power from the hard drive power dongle. I dont see any physical damage to the board and it has been working for 2 years without a hitch. Are you saying that it is the motherboard? I can test that with my friends. I first thought that it was the D0 wire on the mod chip but I took out the mod chip and it does the same thing.

No, the powercord Microsoft issued powercord replacements for some Xbox models. Secondly, there were some defective models that had a problem with bad soldering so look around the powersupply on the motherboard.

I am going to retouch all the solder points I can on the main board. I cannot see a break in the soldering joints anywhere. I have a xbox ver 1.0. I am thinking that the cpu might have sustained heat damage due to the new 160 gb hard drive just installed but the unit didnt freeze last time I played. What do the blinking green and red lights mean on the eject button?

OK touched up all the immediate soldering points. Put in the original xbox hard drive and dvd rom. Tried another xbox power cable. Same thing is happening. I have a lighted magnifying glass (the one that costs $60 from Office Max) and I could not find any solder out of place. HELP!!

when you turn on xbox, do you see bios load? Or xbox just flash red/green?

How do you get this problem?

When I turn it on I dont see anything appear on the screen. I brought it from my house to my office and it wont turn on now. There was no physical trauma at all. When I turn it on all the fans will start to turn and then they all stop after about 1 second. Then they turn on agaion for about a second then stop for another second. Then they turn on again and the light on the eject button flashes red and green continuously until I unplug the unit. It has to be the mainboard because I have replaced and tested everything else. I guess I will just have to buy another box. Thanks anyway guys.
