Hi, if you mean the Xecuter chip ie this -

    [IMG] and

then yes i have the same one on one of my xboxes. However i haven't figured out how to swap the hard drive on chipped xboxes yet.
I have a few non-chipped xboxes and softmodding/swapping hard drives on those is easy.
As to putting applications on there, i just use the AID disc (Auto Installer Deluxe) from http://www.aidtracker.com/
(haven't installed/removed anything else as didn't want to break anything, if it was a non-chipped xbox it's easy to redo a softmod from scratch but with the chipped boxes i was only interested in updating XBMC as the dashes etc (while very old) still work fine).

..in the case of my 2 chipped xboxes, i found mine had really old software loaded, and the dash on both was Avalaunch which i'm not familiar with. So all i did was ftp onto the boxes, check where the old equivalents (or old versions) of XBMC were, then rename them out of the way. One xbox had the folder 'xbplayer', the other was XBMP i think it was. Anyways, i renamed those out of the way, then installed the latest XBMC from the AID 4.30 disc. Once complete i ftp'd onto the boxes again and using the ftp program renamed the new XBMC folder to xbplayer or XBMP, rebooted, and could then run the new XBMC from the old menu choices (as i say this was because i'm not familiar with the Avalaunch dash yet).

Sorry i can't help with the hard drives questions (yet) as i'm only familiar with swapping them on non-chipped boxes; any hard drive you do use, if over 250GB, needs formatting with 32k clusters to avoid corruption/data loss. a tool that can do this is xbpartitioner.

These 2 machines i'm leaving with the stock hard drives for now as i only bought these 2 for network movie watching and music playing, but may upgrade the hard drives in future once i know how to..

Here's how i softmodded when i first got into xboxes, see if some of it jogs the brain cells :) - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/557450/3558187

    Indeed :)

    - Nice, can't say fairer than that. I guess the fact that it's hardmodded must make hard drives swaps a doddle then. Looks like there's no messing about flashing BIOSes on the modchip after all.

This guide when you swap the hardrive over it says after format hdd then install dashboard and apps how can you do that with the auto installer disk still in the Xbox bit confused by that bit?

    - Leave the autoinstaller disk inside dvd drive. Turn off xbox and open it. Install big hdd. Turn on xbox.
    - Xbox load the autoinstaller disk. Choose format hdd. Then install dashboard and apps.
    - When done, eject the autointaller disk and reboot xbox.

you just leave the AID cd or dvd in the drive, swap the new hdd in, then the machine should boot off the cd or dvd, then format etc as per this link further down the thread you posted above.. - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/366945/3639464 then read the next couple or few replies after that one..

Heres how I do it with a chipped box..

First I boot with the original drive in and ftp out the C: and E: data.. then I swap in the new large drive (noting the jumper position on the original drive) and run a basic install from whatever installer disk I have handy. Finally I ftp the contents of E: back which returns all the game saves and custom soundtracks etc ;)

All in all about 10 minutes of a job.

BTW.. If you have problems with the dvd drive not reading properly after a HDD swap try unlocking and locking the HDD a couple of times. It seems to reset the IDE controller.
