We need more information. Is this a downloaded movie? If so are they RAR files your saying that are in parts? Are these AVI files?
Yeah It says They Are WinRAR Archive, And it's a downloaded movie..I need some help making all 8 parts into one movie.. So yeah.. They are WinRAR Archive files(whatever that means) I htink it means it's a RAR file and it's just in the WinRAR Program archive folder or somthing...Becuase I have WinRAR.. But yeah, Any other info you need.. PZ EZ
If you have WinRAR installed on your computer then double click on the first file in the list and WinRAR should start. Choose to extract it and it will then extract the file into an Image file for you to burn. If you double click it and it ask what program to use to open it then choose WinRAR and like above just choose to extract, and it will extarct the file into an image file you can burn. If you dont have WinRAR then go to the below link and download it and install it. http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
But I have it's 8 parts, It's downloaded into 8 parts...And I wanna just like put all 8 parts and combine them to 1 whole movie to put on a dvd - r or dvd + r, But I need to know how to take all the 8 files and then combine them to one, So on the dvd when I put it into the dvd it's just one whole movie..Alright Hit me back up on here
Download WinRAR as Chee5e and larrylje suggested. In case you did not know, "RAR files" are simply compressed files, much like a Zip file. It makes the file sizes smaller so you can download them faster. Anyway you need to decompress these files before you can do anything else with them. When you use WinRAR, it will decompress and reassemble the parts into 1 file (usually AVI, DivX, etc.). If you need to burn this to DVD, most likely you will need a program to convert Internet movie files to DVD format. I use ConvertXtoDVD from the company below. You can also use NeroVision if you have it. http://www.vso-software.fr/products.php Good luck...
most files i've heard about that are .rar (movies) are usually .avi (divx or xvid) just extract each one into a diff. folder (makes it easier) and use a guide at afterdawn ex. avi to dvd...maybe download tmpgenc first (free trial)if you have nero vision express then that has a mpeg 2 encoder so it's up to you (if your are big on avi to mpeg 2 encodings then i woudl recommend cce and dvd2svcd)...just encode all the files....figure out bitrate first so that they all fit on one or two dvd5s (up to you) and use a authoring program (i like dvdlab, i think there is a free trial) and add them to your template.....if you have nero vision express then just add the .avi's and it will do the rest....like dvdnoobie said there is convertxtodvd and similar programs...can't be hard to find
@scoob981 You must not download movies often. Most of the time Video files come in an image that is split into pieces with WinRAR. Some might do 1 large AVI file and some might have a folder with a bunch of AVI in it. The correct way to WinRAR these video files is to use WinRAR and choose to store the video files (ISO/BIN/AVI/FOLDERS) and split them up into pieces to make it easier to send over the net. Plus it is easier to download a piece that might have been corrupt instead of downloading the full file again. So saying to extract each WinRAR file to a diffrent folder is not correct. You choose the first RAR file that is in the series of the download and the rest of the RAR files will be automaticly extarcted to what ever the uploader WinRAR it up as. (ISO/BIN/AVI/FOLDER) Etc. Etc.
The free decompression utilities (TugZip, ZipGenius etc.) will also work, but with those choosing the first file will not work. Choose the one in the group with the .RAR extension.
From the link that was posted: This simply is not true as many of the free zippers do the job nicely.
@MysticE thanks for pointing that out,...good job soldier although the [bold]"freebies"[/bold] are no where near as good thats why winrar is the most popular tool used throughout the torrent world
@Mystice If you think that the guide is wrong then take the time to make a guide for others to use. Dont point out things that are wrong (which tech isnt wrong) on some other guide if you wont take the time to make your own. The Author of the guide said to use WinRAR. As hursty said this is because WinRAR is 1 of the most populer compression programs out there. So they choose to use WinRAR because that is what they use. If you dont use WinRAR then again post a guide that guides members on how to use the other programs you are bringing up. AT least the author took the time to show people how to use WinRAR and the outcome of using it is the same as what it would be if using one of the free programs. The only diffrence is the author decided to use WinRAR as the example.
@larrylje By linking to his tutorial one suggests that WinRar, a program you must pay for, is the only option. I pointed out that there are free options available and how to use them. The poster's question was simple, how to decompress his RAR files, as was my free solution, without the need to buy anything. These forums and others of their type go to great lengths to inform folks on the use of the many fine, free programs available to accomplish their video goals, ie DVDShrink, DVDDecypter, IfoEdit, VirtualDub, Pgcedit, AVImux, VOBEdit, VOB Blanker, the list goes on and on. Many times when a poster asks how to use, or needs an opinion on buying a program folks will chime in on the free options available to accomplish the same result. Another advantage is that using the various free options increases one's knowledge and understanding of the process, hence small problems can be easily solved, usually free. Free is good.
wow..... i dont want anyone getting there knickers in a twist over nothing that guide merely shows more clearly what rar files are,and how to use them. if i was honest enough,i personally think if someone is clever enough to install a client, download a torrent,i think they should beable to figure out what those files are. a quick google would have sufficed anyways, you can get winrar for free, just not permanently.unless you get things illegally. everybody likes free,i agree.but free is not always the best, and in this case, its not. winrar is by far the best app in its field i am not saying everyone should use it,far from it. but as he stated,he [bold]already has winrar installed[/bold] on his pc,so he dont need anymore de-compression tools on his pc anyway so i am not sure what the point of your original post was in the first place. this thread aint about whether or not you agree with my guide, its about Chee5e not knowing what to do with rar files.and the link i gave ,was the perect answer to that. if you think my guide is mis-informing people, then contact a mod to get it changed, failing that, you can always write your own, then there will be no arguements. kind regards, hursty
@ hursty Shame on you! You did not have an attorney review the guide before posting! LOL @ mystice I would say that hursty's guide link was not intended to describe Winrar as being the only application available for rar files. Most guides are written using the same techniques and tools as the author uses. Check out all the DVDShrink guides. Most make no mention that Nero Recode could be used instead. Anyway, Winrar has a free trial so any arguement is moot. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but if anyone writes a guide there is no written or unwritten rule that they must list all the alternative software available. I'm just grateful that people take the time to write guides and help others in this forum!
