    I have a Dell Inspiron 1501. Im running Vista home premium. And Im tring to install XP on my 80gb USB harddrive. I downloaded Windows XP Pro from the microsoft site and did what it said, and wrote the iso to a blank disk. My problem is when I start my computer and boot from the disk, It tries to boot it then goes into vista... Any ideas?

    This is an old one that keeps coming up.

    Boiled down to the essentials, here's the lowdown in 3 easy to grasp bullet points...

    * Windows cannot be installed on any external drives.

    * You can't do it.

    * It won't work.
