I bought this new computer with a BenQ DQ 60 burner a couple of weeks before I headed south and I think the sun fried my brain as i seem to have forgotten everything I learned from these forums. I am not sure if I updated the firmware but think I did but don't know how to check..My burner is very very slow. Even when i try to rip cd's it takes forever to load the cd into windows media player but that is besides the point. when using dvd shrink it takes forever to load the dvd in re-author and if i use full disk then go to open files it still takes a while. It seems that the first dvd that I burn usually works ok but then when trying to burn using nero and dvd shrink it will not recognize my media. I am using verbatim advanced azo. I keep getting and write error. I remember i was able to send a log so that you experts could see that but now I even forget how to do that. I am just about ready to trash the burner and get a new one but was hoping for some expert advice before I do that. thanks doug
if you're having trouble with your drive and it's taking a longggggggggg time maybe it slipped from DMA mode to PIO mode! here is how to enable DMA again: http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues and here is your firmware: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2190 to find out what firmware you have now..... use Nero Info tool, then hit DRIVE ..... this will give you all the information about your BenQ DQ60 drive and tell you what firmware you have! to get to your Nero Log file got to ProgramFiles/Ahead/Nero/NeroHistory.txt I'm sure you can update your firmware, enable DMA, copy and paste your Nero Log file and whaaaaa laaaaaahhh you're up and running again.
