I believe all Viewsats are FTA. All depends on what you are looking for.

I have the Viewsat Platinum which is no longer available but uses the same bin files as the new Viewsat Lite model. I borrowed it from a friend of mine that sells different receivers. I have to remember to pay him some day, LOL. He told me to take it and see if I like it. There is no way he is getting it back.

I think it sold for around $150. The lite goes for $139. with free shipping.

I did several electronic repairs for him so he still owes me. He always forgets to pay me and I do the same to him. We have been friends over 20 years.

Watch you don't get a clone tho. The lower end recivers have been cloned. The higher end I don't think have been. The PVR and HD of most models have't been. YET!!!!.

Viewsat programmers have put clone killers in their bins.
Some sites offer bins specifically for clones for there protection.

Pansat uses the clone killers in their bins also. For the few extra dollars, its best to purchase a genuine receiver from a well known dealer or site sponsor. I'm not out to sell anyone on Viewsats and have no direct connection with Viewsat. I just know what works best for me and has no real problems with the update files. Everyone has to make their own choice.

From what others are telling me, the PVR7000 is a nice box. Files should be easy to get and usually fast if the Viewsat team keeps up the good work. Usually each model has its own bin file.

There shouldn't be a problem, I just tried the download myself. Just click the orange download button towards the bottom of the page. There are probably many people trying the link so i don't know how much traffic it can handle at once. I just started using that site to help everyone on here. Download the file to your desktop and unzip it before trying to load it to the receiver. There is a second download place to click if the first hangs up. Its on the page that come up after you click the download button.
