I would go to the control panel--device manager--and make sure that com port 1 is active and working. In some cases you may need to assign another com port like 2 or 3 to get it to work. Vista can be a big pain in many ways. I know a lot of people that went back to XP from Vista. Its a nice looking system but I got rid of it and went back to XP Pro.

They will probably find that the early release of Vista turned out to be a flop. Alot of people refuse to use it or have gone back to XP. Vista sucks the life out of your system resources and requires better computers. XP works great with Pentium I,II,III, & IV's. Far easier to get by with. Vista I think was made to look pretty and not to function with the majority of the everyday family computers.

Yes, sir indeed. Vista requires a lot of resources, but if you have them... it is great. Maybe ms IS TRYING TO SEll new hw, but I really love vista with my brand new 1k laptop. If you want to keep a pentium I, you culd possibly run windows 3.11 and it will be great, but that is not what we want, is it/

THAT'S THE way with technology. Once you buy it, it's obsolete. So... Don't tell me XP is better than Vista, It's just a low level options. You have to invest to get the goodies.

Vista is not what the every day computer guy likely has in mind,,,the one thing i found out is that a lot of HIGH END recording software i own,,VISTA will not read it ,,or format it,,,,you gotta believe that VISTA has had more complaints than praise,,,from a survey stated in consumer guide reported over 77% VISTA owners gave very negative reviews... that dont make it bad ,,its prefernce to what you are used to operating,,,,i had VISTA removed from my new computer so i could still operate the the 3000 dollars in software that VISTA would not load/recognize,, But it still had some interesting aspects to it,,,,MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL YOU GUYS

Did you install the factory bin first?
Are you using the latest bin?
Did you do a factory reset?
    Is your autoroll on?
Since you are scanning nimiq 1,3 - you are aimed at 91W?

They may sound like redundent or stupid questions, but helps us rule out all the obvious first questions.

Viewsat just released updates for all their models today.
I have added them to the toolbar to download: http://FTAHELP.OurToolbar.com

Also available on my site: http://www.myfriendsareyourfriends.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=59

I suggest loading the newest bin to start with.

Factory bin is bin 100 - or in some cases, programmers have updated the factory bins. The number may not be 100 any more. Might be something like 111 or such. The file does contain Factory Bin in the name to identify it. You should load this bin first and then the latest bin.

As for factory reset and autoroll, they should be in your menu somewhere. I don't know Viewsats at all, but Jerry and Bill know them well. Also a few others that could help you with this.

thank you very much breack, that helped alot. I have another question tho. I looked on that site myfriends are your friends and found a factory bin that says 278. Does it have to be 100 or 111 and start with a 1 or would that one work aswell?

No--codes and bin files are 2 different things. You need to install the new bin files released today that will get you the BEV channels. Try this link below and then install the download.
