On the xbox setup is correct. Some things are going on with the PC. I think you just play around with it. eventualy, you will figure it out.

I still stick with make the xbox ip dynamic and make sure you can connect with live. Thanks boot to the modded dash, check out the ip on the screen. Now with the box connected to a router and the pc connect to the same router, ftp to the address. It's as simple as cake. No connection sharing or anything. FTP will make a secure connection.

tried turning off mcafee firewall all together, but nothing happened still...when im setting up a site on flash ftp, all i need to enter is the ip address, user and pass right? all the local path remote path are blank and all other settings are default??

i also tried seting up the xbox as a network place as in pimpdawgs tut. but it says i dont have access.... is it something to do with permissions maybe??

steimy: i want the end result of this to be, for me to be able to watch videos on my HD thru XBMC on my tv....but im getting conflicting information with all the tutorials....most of the tutorials for setting up smb sharing say to have your ip dynamic...where as to ftp use static, i get why...ie: every time your pc connects to ftp, same address.....but i dont understand why you must use dhcp for XBMC??

this is really annoying me at this stage!!!

i still cant ftp, or use xbc on my pc ... i really dont understand why!?? i dont want to go fiddling around with settings that im not too sure of in case i ruin what i already have!!!

ok....doinf a few trial and error things....some of my findings

1:tried to connect via windows explorer by typing in ftp:// and ip of xbox, then ignore the warning , file> loging as... i get another warning about 'cannot acces this folder...make sure you have the right permissions...'

2: found this interesting.....tried to connect to XBC, logged in, and tried to get it to find my console....low and behold it did, i thought great... havent had a good game of XBC since before xmas...lovely!! but anytime i joined a channel, the game wouldnt show up on my xbox screen!

so to me, it seems, that my computer can get info From the xbox, but not send info TO the xbox......
