OK, my issue is that I have a HDD in one xbox that I cant rebuild using option 1 in xboxhdm. The drive is definitely unlocked, I have perfected using the hot swap method. I was able to wipe the old partitions. But using option 1 to rebuild gives an error message involving not being able to read the partition table which is funny because that's why I'm using option one. Now, I have a second xbox that is modded, wouldn't cloning the good drive to the bad drive work? Would this configuration work? Drive 0 (bad) hotswapped to dev/hda Drive 1 (good) ulocked with eeprom.bin to dev/hdb clone 1 to 0 then relock drive 1
All though not comming from the perspective of an xbox the same thing can happen on a comp running partition magic, the best thing to do is install the hdd to a usb drive housing or the comp & format it in comp management or dskchk the corrupted tables or unused space,i seem to recall hdd's having a small data block at the beginning of the disk if that is true chances are that's where the issue lies, doing the afore mentioned should solve it EDIT: Just seen this, you may have to do the same ,poster number 5 (excluding topic starter) http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/711899
OK.. I have a get out clause for you here... Try damnsmalllinux (dsl) and when you get to the "boot" prompt type "dsl 2" and next time you get to input stuff type "cfdisk" That will open a partitioning tool and allow you to see the state of the drive and make/modify partitions.. If you look at the possible partition types you will see xbox.. yes really.. it's something like type 46 ..
