The best would be Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden - for the - or + format.
Taiyo Yuden instore look for made in Japan Sony or Fuji - usually made by Taiyo though made in japan Sony can also be made by Sony themselves.

Online reputable sites you can find genuine Taiyo Yuden. If you're in the states check out http://supermediastore.com, http://rima.com or http://meritline.com.

Yes I have a Dell notebook.

I hope this solves the problem.
    I just bought 30 € of DVD 16x....

    I'm trying with 8X but I think I already used 8X....

No, it's not the type of DVD.

Wich other software may I use to burn data?
To burn images I use Alcohol and it works very well.

Well you are using good media, RITEKG05.

However, I think it has something to do with this..
The atapi driver is not recognised hence the ????.

You'll have to wait for binkie to clarify how to fix it as i am not competely sure in that area.

BTW to burn image files, eg, ISOs, you can use IMGBurn.

    Good catch Ripper!!
http://imgburn.com]ImgBurn will also burn data too - just use the build mode.
Give that one a shot - it's free and a great burning program.

You might want to turn of the speed measurement in Nero.

Let's check the aspi in Nero. Go to ToolKit>InfoTool>ASPI tab.
See what it show for Nero and system. Looking for anything saying corrupt. If it says system apsi not installed that's ok.

If all ok there then try this. In device manager uninstall the burner reboot and let windows do it's thing and reinstall.

    Aspi is ok.

turning off measurement speed I waste DVDs.

I try to unistall, reboot, reinstall.
I already did using also general-Clean-Tool.

I had IMG burn but I uninstalled thinking that it was in conflict with Nero....

    Thank you so much

I rarely the speed measurement. Since the drive is actually an oem LiteOn you might have SmartBurn - which basically sets the burn speed based on what the media supports.
Check here: Opening Burn Rom>choose recorder>options.

ImgBurn doesn't conflict w/ Nero. Might want to give that one a go again and see if you can get what you need off this laptop.

Laptop burners imho ain't the best. Not as sturdy as their counterparts. Though LiteOn is a good brand.

Next thing would be to try different media again. Ritek is decent but I would look for 8x Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.

even with IMGBURN I got a read error while creating the image.

May be the files I'm trying to burn corrupted?

That's what I'm thinking now too.
What kind of files are these? Just data? If movies may have a bad rip?

Have you done a disc defrag very recently?

Another thing to do is a chkdsc . May take awhile but will check the hard drive and try and fix any errors/bad sectors.
Here's a guide - look towards the middle for the graphical one:

yes they are movies but I dowloaded from the same source as before.
The first time I had problem was with Iso files, but know they work well and avi and mpg don't.

tryed to burn only the last 2 i got and nero doesn't stop as before but says that burning is ok but the dvd is wasted.
Nero wrote only on the central part of the dvd.
    So de DVD is unreadable....

Have you tried another brand of disc yet? Sometimes not all are created equal in even the same spindle.

I tried to get some 8x Verbs or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell.
My LiteOn wasn't particularly fond of the GO5 Riteks. (printable ones though)

    I'd rule that too.

    Did you do the chkdsc?
