Hopefully you can help, I am a newbie and hope this thread isn't answered elsewhere...although I have looked!

I am attempting to convert an avi to a DVD using Nero 7, the process completed and the disc burns but there is absolutely no audio on the completed disc. I have checked the original avi and the audio is there and in sync.

I see from some of the historic threads that earlier versions of Nero had issues with avi to dvd conversions, but surely they would have it solved by now?!

    TIA

Do you mean there is no audio when played back in a standalone player or when you use the PC's media player (Windows Media Player or VLC)?

    Convert the AVI with this.
After conversion try playing the folder contents with the media player to verify the sound is ok, then burn the contents with Nero Vision Express or ImgBurn.
See if it's Nero or a burner problem.

    http://dl.afterdawn.com/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_v0.5.2b.exe
Import the file(s) (AVI, WMV,MPEG, VOB)
Output (standard DVD file format) to a folder on the HDD.
Set 'Aspect' to 4:3 (if you have a regular tv)
Set 'Standard' to NTSC (if you live in North America)

    http://www.imgburn.com/

    Run ImgBurn
    Mode > 'Build'
    Output > 'Device'
File > 'Browse for Folder', highlight on the 'VIDEO_TS' folder, > 'OK'
Set speed at 4x and click the green write button.

attar - many thanks for your advice and assistance.

Works perfectly with ImgBurn so it was obviously a Nero issue.

    Cheers,

    Darren.

    ...the confusion continues!!

I have converted the avi using DivxToDvd and burnt to DVD+R using ImgBurn and when I play in my standalone DVD the picture jumps.

I thought this may be down to my player not liking the media and tried to burn an unconverted ts direct to the same media and it played perfectly.

This leads me to the assumption (which may be wrong!!) that there is a problem with the way I am using ImgBurn, I would be grateful for any ideas!!

It’s not imageburn like you said when you tried an unconverted file it plays fine so its divx to dvd does the converted file play fine on your computer

The burned DVD is bad on the PC and the standalone?

If the file jumps on the pc waste of time burning it to a disk still will jump when burned re- encode it again and before you burn it to a disk play it first see if it plays ok

If you use the media player on the PC to open and play the folder containing the converted files, how is it?
