    To keep things less confusing for everyone - best thing is to post the log in one thread only. Right now it's in 3 threads and 1 has your email addy in it (need to edit that out). I know you said not media in 1 thread but the 1st thing that jumps out at me is the media:
    Not the best by far - better to try Verbatim, made in japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell.
    Let's stick with one thread (you pick) and edit the posts in the others.

    i hear ya..well..the reason i said "not media" is i have made coasters with about 10 verbatim's and probably 5 maxells..i was at the end of a maxell spindle when i started having troubles..if it was only 1 of my burners..i would assume it was a hardware issue..but both on the same day..its gotta be something else..i mean..i have had both burners for over a year..and i cannot even remember making even 1 coaster before..as far as editing..i am in the process of deleting the other posts right now

    Did anything change w/ the pc since the problem started? New programs installed, updates, moved it etc?
    In the mean time I'll go thru the logs and see what I can find. May be a little bit - at work:) )
    Worst case for now would be to just do a system restore to a date that you know everything was working and see if that does the trick.
    Let me see what I can find.

    Hello,

    I downloaded Nero 7 Ultra a couple times from the Nero official website. I also recommended some of my friends to use Nero 7, but lately some of them complained about virus detected by their Norton a.v. softwares. I tried AVG and Norman a.v. softwares, and YES, i also got virus alert/warnings after virus checks!

    Has any of you experienced such a trouble? Thanx in advance.

    @Serdal
    Welcome to aD! Best bet would be to start a thread about this. No problems like that on my end.

    @rick5446
    Looking at the logs not much has changed. More ram was freed up but even more would be better. Riteks also caused an illegal disc error.
    Here are some other suggestions that may help:
    *Make sure drives are securely connected (may have came loose) & cables look okay
    *Clean the lens w/ a lens cleaner
    *run a virus scan
    *system defrag and disc cleanup (always good to do anyhow)
    * try another brand or what others have also failed?
    The last firmware update for your drive (4/2005) included the media codes from the discs listed in your log. Here's list:

    I'd rather rule out as much as possible b/4 even going the reformat route. The cause may be the drive

    Just 1 more burn? Need to shot for more than that :)
    Try the other suggestions and let us now how it goes. 3 burning progs giving the same error means it's not just Nero. Does Copy to DVD still work?

    @roustie99
    Txs for posting back you what worked for you. Which version did the trick?

    roustie99..the 2 reliable NERO's I ve found are..6.6.0.18..Also of the new 7. series,the 7.0.82 seem to run the smothest.
    Although I'm one 2 talk with the problems I've been having lately.But
    I've been useing NERO since I first started burning & never had a problem up until the new 7.0's..But 7.0.82 seems to work..But maybe the 7.0's are going to end up the cause of my problems..I don't really have a choice but to try this again,to see if this is the prob.!If so I'LL get back to YA'LL..Any way welcome to A/D,you are not going to find a more helpful site ENJOY

    binkie7..WELL did four burns tonight,seem all went well,used Nero 7.0.82.The only thing I don't like about this new Nero is it won't work with DVD Shrink.Where as the 6.6.0.18 will ..But I just wish I could figure out what went wrong in the first place.I did'nt even turn my computer off,this problem just jumped out at me.Cost me 12 F%#$ing DVD's
    If this happens again I'll just use my older Nero 6.6.0.18
    But again I want to THANK You for your help.

    There have been a lot of issues lately with problems being found after having a cd play in your computer. This can result in root kits being installed without your permission or knowledge which are capable of keeping you from burning cd's and in some cases, dvd's. Usually you will know about the DRM being put on your computer, but not always. The fix from Microsoft to correct the Sony issue is almost worse than the one it eleminates. I don't recall exactly where I got software I used to fix some of these problems but one place I went to was called Major Geeks Stuff dot com I think. Maybe the moderator has some ideas about this too but I mention it because noone has done so as of yet. The copy protection schemes now being put out there are really quite evil and will cause problems to perfectly good systems just for daring to even play your cd on your computer, even if your attempt was not to make a copy or rip of it.

    I think the one I used was called hookanlz.exe but I downloaded quite a few things from that site. I am sure it was majorgeeks.com

    I also got hijackfree there and some others and spybot also had an updated version I used. I was also having this problem with a thing called vbstub.exe and it was a bastard to remove from my computer. It would run all those things called bot that would slow my computer to a standstill and not even let my mouse work. I would find a hundred of them running when I went into taskmanager.

    I would recommend the death penalty to those guys who write that stuff and also for the software people who do all sorts of things to my computer without my permission only because I am allowing their program to install on my computer. AAaaaarrrrrg!!
